Is $29,000 really newsworthy? This is called by the retail trade "skrinkage " and is a cost of doing business. I am surprised that number is so low. Target and Walmart probably have losses in the millions in Florida alone. This is a nothing story!!!

The Employees help themselves to whatever they want and they look the other way for their friends too. Don't blame this all on professional thieves.

professional thieves? Do they go to college and get a degree in theft? I bet every professional loves being associated with this title.

The stores obviously need a shoplifting deterrent system, but they are too lazy to implement one. In most stores, only 30% of shrink (theft) is attributed to employees, leaving 70% that goes our the front door. "Professional" thieves are groups of people that work together to remove large amounts of merchadise from a store over a short period of time for resale -- this is different from the single item "Winona Ryder" style of shoplifting that people mostely think about. It sounds like Victoria Secret should invest in a Sensormatic pedestal type anti-theft system. It should pay for itself in a few months based on these kinds of losses. FYI, shoplifting is way up nationally (87% this year) and reporting statistics like this would have made for a more informative article.

I'm glad people are stealing from Victoria's Secret. That store has no sense of humor. I was almost arrested there once just for asking a salesgirl if they had a particular bra and panty set in a children's size.

No surprise. Most clothing stores are so jammed full of racks and staffed by inattentive cashiers who prefer texting to selling, it's easy to steal.
VS is getting exactly what it paid for.

for those people that might shoplift, this article gave them the go ahead by telling everyone reading it that VS stores don't have surveillance cameras and that the checkout girls can't see areas of the store...
