Name someone who did do something for Jenkins? What is there to do? You have no money, your population is shrinking, tax money goes away as people leave, cost of goods goes up and up, other than barely get by ... what is there to do?

Companies and corparations aren't going to come there ... you have nothing to offer them. What is there for anyone to do?

Theres idiots running this city just like theres idiots running this country. Companies ain't going anywhere in America. We'd rather buy cheap crap from China that falls apart every two seconds. And when people do find something that's made in America people complain because it's too expensive, so they opt for the cheap China-India-Taiwan crap. Just like Sears Craftsman tools VS WalMart Taiwan tools. But Craftsman tools ain't even made in America anymore. But then you can blame the unions for the American made stuff being so expensive. If you pay somebody $100,000 a year to run a forklift like GM-FORD-CHRYSLER then your stuff is going to have to be expensive to keep up with payroll. Do you really blame the big greedy companies?? they're just doing what they do, being big greedy companies. Pay an American big $$$ or some poor kid in some poor foreign country 2 bucks a month to do the same job. Or you can blame the American people for just sitting around excepting what these idiots in Washington keep shoving down our throats instead of standing up like the people in the old days would have done and saying enough is enough. But i don't think unity really exists anymore. People can't get together for more than 3 minutes without an argument. Anyway, a little off topic but just blowing off some steam. Ya'll have a good one.

Wow, I agree with you 100%. That was my point to the person who started this thread. There isn't ANYTHING a mayor from any little country town can do to change the course of a city's progress. He can only steer. It's the people that have to make the effort. A leader can point the right direction, but it's the people that have to do the work and it's my opinion that the majority of America finds it easier to sit back and blame everyone else for their situation and they do nothing to change it.

Twenty years ago there was a huge country wide campaign to buy American and it has long since died because no one would. Back then, an American made car was the number one car sold here. Now it is the Camry, Japanese made ... and people step over themselves to go buy it. Yes, they are now making some of them here in the states, but the profits are going back to Japan (and China, Tiwain, Philippines etc).

So the originator of this thread is just being a sterotypical American and passing the buck.

Charlie was a good man he just had the wrong people trying to lead him in bad directions. But he still never even compared to the mess we are having to put up with now! And he was honestly trying to do good for the town not just him self!
