I love the Berlin Raceway. I hope that this is a good move. I understand that Mr. Blackmer will probably run it great - but sad to lose the money of the Whitecaps.

Awesome - someone who knows about racing!!! Maybe this will bring the fans back that have been wandering away since the Whitecaps took over.

Good. I never understood what made a baseball organization think that they knew a thing about racing.

Best news in a longtime for race fans, before they bought it you could barely get a seat there.....now its more like pick a seat, any seat.....I hope that I can bring my own cooler again also

Didn't you all see that the Whitecap's are still going to manage the concession area and such? Doubt you'll be able to bring the coolers in, even with new management. Bummer, I agree.

Funny how every one is excited and assuming that it will be more family orientated and that they will be able to bring in coolers with beer again. Do you want racing or a big party with children there to witness more drunks fighting and/or falling out of the stands? Besides...the Whitecaps will still oversee the concessions and that would include the alcohol sales I would think. And if not being able to bring in your own beer made it unaffordable, then I guess your priority is drinking not the racing itself. The price of stand passes did not take a drastic increase and you could still bring non alcoholic beverages and food from home. Not to mention that tailgating was allowed for those that wanted to drink there own beer. So what changes are you really hoping to see?

You are looking way far into this...but if you know anything about racing (which I am assuming you do) you know that the sterotype is that beer and racing go hand in hand. Bad or good, I'm not to judge but NASCAR gets what we are all trying to say. That's why you can bring soft side coolers into the BIG tracks. We are just saying that going racin' on a Saturday night is a lot more expensive if you have to buy their beer/alcohol. Would be nice to bring your own in, that's all. Doubt any of us that posted have the intentions of getting fall down, fighting drunk. Come on, now.

We can only hope it could be run similar to the way Chet ran the track. Who cares about the beer thing just try to fill the place again at an affordable family rate

If I can bring my own beer to a NASCAR race, I should be able to bring my own beer to the fairgrounds race. Simple as that. Maybe you haven't noticed, but the socio/economic group typically thought of as race fans aren't exactly knocking down millions of extra dollars in today's Michigan economy.

I don't know what specific changes Mike will bring forth, but ANYTHING will be better than the White Caps and their corporate BS! If the fans think they have it bad, try racing there under the current management. Hopefully this will not only hike the fan count but bring back several talented drivers that went to race elsewhere due to the White Caps inept ability to understand the sport of racing.

Blackmer will do a good job running the track. Since buying Paragon lanes a year and a half ago, he has turned a run down, dead bowling alley into a much nicer looking and feeling establishment. They are even turning teams away as all the lanes are full nightly. If he can turn around a place like that, in such a run down area, I'm sure he can help bring about some needed changes in a more comfortable area like Marne.

I think maybe the whole atmosphere will change. All the talented drivers that left because of the way they ran things. I started going there when I was 15 after the whitecaps bought it I stopped going the fun was gone and it just wasn't the same no more. The drivers where unhappy with the current owners. Now that a previous driver is going to buy it he'll know how to make drivers happy and customers by knowing what they want to see. Yea!!! make sure the sale goes through.

Wouldn't that be something, to have the races at Berlin sold out again!

I Love racing , have since I was little. I can remember going to the Grand Rapids Speedrome and Berlin too. Personally the only improvements I would like to see at Berlin is better / new seats. a Non-Smoking Non - Alcohol Family area.If you can't go a few hours with out a adult beverage then maybe you need to seek help.If there must be drinking then who is driving these drunks home ??? Maybe a mandantory breath-alyzer test before you can leave?? I know that is a bit extreme but would you feel the same if your loved one was killed by a drunk driver leaving the races? Signed Ex - Smoker / Ex- Drinker . We Are the worst ones ya know . LOL

As far as sold out ... I wouldn't want that I love being able to seat most anywhere with plenty of "elbow" room. Really don't need to be squeezed , kneed in the back , stepped on , ect. Good seats with plenty of room and comfort is what I find most enjoyable at Berin. I would like to see more race oriented vendors outside the track.

Where did I get the dea that the owners of the track were Michigan Adventure and Johnny Benson? I didn't know that the Whitecaps organization had anything to do with Berlin Raceway.
