Just before any request for new taxes they threaten to cut cops and fire just like schools threaten to cut busing and sports.

Well F'em, we are all getting along on less, less jobs, less credit, less benefits, less income they can get along on less too. The remark about the assessor office is right on, keep the tax collectors but cut the cops.

Time to call their bluff. We could probably get along with 35 less cops. I love it when there is a murder and the next day there are 5 cops running a speed trap on Burton, or better yet on US-131. I saw a whole crowd of them with a radar gun on the Burton overpass nailing north bound cars a few weeks ago while there are murders to be solved.

The first time a buddy of mine went in there he went nuts about what they must have spent on that building for the Water Dept. You are right a pole barn would have been fine, they did not need a palace.

Another thought, maybe it is time to do away with the Downtown Development Authority and get that money back to pay for fireman. How about we get by with less cops by NOT making arrests for pot possession and MIP.

I will be voting no on any tax increase. What's this bull about paying for the Street Lights, give me a freaking break. You know if and when things turn around they would never change that back.

There is much in the city that should be cut completely out before public safety cuts should even be considered. Only then would I support the raising of additional revenue. And even then, I would want that additional revenue to ONLY go to public safety.

I was in wyoming last week and it sickened me to think they spent so much money on the new Police department/City Hall and yet they are crying they don't have enough money for police and fire safety among other things. What about the new court for 63rd district what a waste of money at a time when we don't have the resources. Time to cut back on massive building projects like this and the huge salaries of the elite in city and county government. Parks is a good place to cut. I support asking the public to do more or maybe use some jail inmates who are low risk to do some of the work.Note I said ask them to help not order. We don't want to infringe on anyones rights.

More tougher times. This is just the beginning. Its going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better, that is if it does get better.

I find it ridiculous that politicians believe they can hold us hostage by cutting safety services before anything else. I suppose the GR mayor has offered a pay cut, as well as the rest of the unnecessary bureaucrats and administrators making double what the normal Joe Citizen makes.

It's mind blowing. I agree with Pete, f 'em. Just remember the crap they've pulled when it's time to go into the voting booths.

I was hoping for that also, but we cant do that, we have to give the best of everything the US has to offer to all the illegal immigrants who sneak into our country. They are given all that should be saved for our military men and women. They have a country of there own so why do they feel that they need to invade ours? Because the US hands everything to them on a silver platter and says, "Have at it"

I have a cost cutting idea. Instead of having street sweepers running 3 or 4 in a row just riding on the street, how about, we outlaw blowing leaves in the street. Not only does it cause a hazard when they get wet (very slippery) it also clogs up up the sewers during a heavy rain or snow melt. It is quite simple, get out there use a rake (great excercise) and put your leaves in a bag, or make compost out of it.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Cancer

If you want to avoid having a row with someone, get out and about as much as possible today so you can work off all your nervous energy. If you stay in one place for too long you'll be in danger of becoming moody, and possibly even a right old crosspatch. You might also lose your temper with loved ones who are being bolshie or who have the audacity to disagree with you about something. Lighten up, Cancer!
