Bloody 1863 Detroit riot part of author's new book
By the time the Union Army companies from Ypsilanti arrived, two men were dead, dozens injured and more than 30 buildings had been devoured by riot flames in what newspapers at the time called "the bloodiest day" in Detroit history.

How come they did all the cool stuff in the olden days? That place needs a good burnin now. Most of the low lifes would have been tarred and feathered and run out of town in the old days too. How come today everything is boring and stagnant?
