Why did they feel the need to put in the "after he landed on the windshield" comment? Have you utterly no care for how this man's family must feel reading and/or hearing things like that?

I was rather thrown off by that comment, too.
But, people want to know HOW he died. Did he fall on the pavement? Did he land in the windshield? Did he get hit by another on-coming vehicle...?

i saw the aftermath of this accident. my thoughts are with the family of the man and with the driver. there is no crosswalk there and it was dark, he may have never even seen the man walking until it was too late. what a thing to have to live with at such a young age.

Do we really need to know about the windshield? They don't tell when people get "ran over" by a car, they just say "got hit".

Looking at this article as well as quite a few others, it is becoming evident that WZZM clearly has a low pay scale for its writers. Maybe they hire the kids that Johns Hopkins was talking about from GRPS.

GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP -- A car struck and killed a pedestrian in Georgetown Township Wednesday evening.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department, Gilmer Compaan, 83, a resident at Sunset Manor Retirement Home, was crossing Baldwin Street near Thomas Avenue around 7:30 p.m. when a vehicle struck him.

Police say Compaan was headed to a nearby Meijer store.

Compaan died at the scene.

The driver was taken to a hospital after suffering minor injuries
