Workers in Barack Obama's new economic order fall into two categories -- those who are worthy of the president's energies, and those who aren't. You may be surprised to learn where you rank. Obama doesn't weigh the value of workers based on their paychecks, what they do or whether they slip their feet into wingtips or steel-toed boots in the morning. His sole interest is in whether they have a union card in their wallet. detnews.com Obama is sending a message to American workers -- if you want to join his new government-controlled economy, you'd better sign a union card. If you don't, you can't expect him to get your back. What about those sucking off the WELFARE system?

Unions and their effects on industry are a microcosim of where the whole country is heading. Understanding theres only a beneficial place at the top of the gravy pyramid for about 10% of “the collective”. The rest of the collective is around merely to subsidize those privledged few.

A bit of a history lesson here. Largely because of the union struggles in this country we have: A minimum wage. Health and safety regulations in the workplace. An eight hour day. Unemployment compensation. I could add more to this list.

This country was already operating for sum 134 yrs. before unions ever came into existance. The downward spiral came after the corruption of the unions and it's leadership firgured out how to extort money off the backs of the working class. The very people the unions were said to be protecting they were screwing over at the same time, and so goes history.

I know union dues are deductible on your taxes but they spend those dues backing and lobbying politicians that you may not like. The minimum wage is not supposed to be a living wage, whatever that means, its an entry level wage for unskilled people. Yes there was a time when unions were for the worker, but now they are more or less another branch of government.

Unions stopped the abuse of workers that now our corporate giants want to exploit with third world labor. The funniest thing I read this year was about an auto union in Mexico, serves the greedy SOBs right. You can run but you cannot hide.

While the so called union reps are preventing corporate greed their in the back alley cutting deals with the politican and execs on bribes and payoffs. SEIU members in Los Angeles were victimized by one of the biggest cases of union corruption in recent history. Members saw their money illegally used to support the city council race of Martin Ludlow. Ludlow was sentenced for conspiracy to illegally funnel money from SEIU Local 99 to his campaign and ordered to pay $36,000 in restitution. Four of the last eight Teamsters union presidents have been criminally indicted. Yea, I'm sure this was just all a misunderstanding. Same old union rhetoric of the past.

They destroyed the middle class in Greenville so they could exploit poor folks in Mexico. Are you worried about the Costa Rico economy or middle class folks keeping jobs around here. Apparently Amway is more worried about the economy in Costa Rico. They should sell all their crap there too, good fing luck. How about those sweat shops and mines in the 1800s, regulation and unions turned those from slave ship conditions to middle class jobs. I am sure you don't give a rats you know what though, you would rather save the SEIU employees from themselves. How's that punk Kenny Gladny doing in St. Louis, did he get his butt out of that wheel chair yet after he got what he deserved from the SEIU members.

I'm sure those workers who's jobs just went to South Carolina are really thanking their local union leader buddies! And you morons are all for cap & tax, too. You'll be the first to start whining when companies take their jobs to more corporate-friendly countries. Of course you'll get it wrong as usual and try to blame capitalism.

Wow, that union did wonders for those at American Axle. I wonder how many of them are still looking for work.

You can't even make that about the same comparison. First, one was legal and one wasn't. What Electrolux did was perfectly legal, sad but legal. You are like the rest of the union mentality that feel the company owes you something due to your years of service or just because you feel they do. We've all seen plenty of companies pick up and relocate regardless of what their agendas are. Whether we agree with it or not, it will not be stopped. No, it didn't destroy the middle class in Greenville. Believe it or not, the city of Greenville is still there. Yes, it upset alot of lives but you move on or you move out. You have choices as well. Obama is ruining the middle class of this country single handedly and your still worried about Greenville. Obama and his group of "storm troopers" will never stop business from relocating.

Back 80 years ago those things certainly helped the working class. It's no longer the case anymore. We already have agencies that protect the American worker for safety issues, hours worked and age restrictions. The unions continue using this as a crutch to justify their existence. Unions are just another "big business" using the working class for their own financial gains and driving up the cost of products. The more money you make, the more money the union needs to operate.

Interesting that those electolux employees made a good living for many years, then they were stupid enough to vote in the union, and the company said, you know what thanks for the slap in the face for giving you a job, guess what, your fired. If you don't like your job go find another one, or start your own business.

What 8 hour day, 40 hour week? Again, government NOT THE UNION. Unemployment comp enforced by government and NOT THE UNION Maybe before you add more you might want to consider if it is a union program or not. How about this list. Union destroys GM Union = corruption and organized crime Union causes job loss Union weakens American companies competitiveness. I can add more also if you would like.
