Hey it was only 3 hours - but had it happened in Ottawa County - they'd probably still be in the van yet ...

Maybe they've stumbled on to a solution to jail over-crowding here... No more early releases, just put them in a van for the night.

I've accidentally left my dog in the van when he goes to the back and lays down when I run errands - but to think there were 3 inmates and 2 guards makes you think somebody needs to lose their fricken job! Oh wait....aren't they Union too?

LMAO, no, in Ottawa County they would have left the keys in the van, stolen the van and then shot them when they caught them LOL.

They should have built their new courthouse next to the jail. Then they could just walk the prisoners to and from the courthouse. One less van needed and no gasoline needed to transport them.

For some reason, I keep think of Chris Farley on SNL, talking about living in a van, down by the river.

Could it have been done accidently-on-purpose for diciplinary reasons? If no one is spanked for this, I might be right. How do three people get "lost" in a van?

Montcalm county Built a tunnel under the parking area between the court house & the jail to transport inmates. Which I think was a great idea.

LMAO I cant tell you that!

No when they built the new court House that was in the plans. In my old job I spent a lot of time at the court house in small claims court.
At the old court house they would actually lock us in when bringing inmates in. So this is much nicer I believe anyways & safer.

One of those GR ambulance chasing attorneys will find a way to collect... You can bet on that. Not too long ago, hundreds of state prison inmates lived in transport buses because of overcrowding. No beds available so in order to comply with MDOC guidelines and state regulations, a prisoner in transport is not "officially housed" although still in custody and the need for new/enlarged prisons was accepted. Not my first choice of a 3-4 day road trip around the state (UP included), but a free road trip all the same. A poor man's vacation. Now the same (taxpayer built) buildings sit rotting and waiting for new owners (@ taxpayer expense). Open the books and let the people of this state see the cost of maintenance... whether the prison is operating or not. Ouch! With the prison cutback mentality (more paroles, etc...) in front... larger jails will be on the new "To do list". Ya think for a moment Michigan will not find another angle to garner the lost revenue? Whenever something appears to be a deficit help factor, this state always finds the sneaky flip.

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Scorpio

If something is bothering you, it's important that you say so now, loudly and clearly. It's no good bottling things up any longer because that will only lead to resentment and a slow-burning anger. However, it's important that you know when to shut up too, otherwise you might overstate your case or sound so demanding that you turn others against you.
