My point exactly. The initial charges of attempted murder did not show an equitable or fair distribution of justice.I for myself and many others never condoned the assault. The 6 indeed should have been charged...but for assault. Which wuld have never happened without the outside interest in it.
The slurs and warnings were documented yet you see some claiming that Barker was just systematically conspired against to be killed in school. That is ridiculous. And as for the ropes being hung....The State AG stated it would have been prosecuted as a hate crime if the perps had not been minors. CNN showed documentation from witnesses yet people are popping up here saying all was lovely and fair in Jena from day one.
Thank God there is the media to expose problems taking place n society today. Even if the story is gray....it can be invesigated and citizens can react to it.

Actually you are wrong. The whole point of contention that started the entire protest isn't whether or not the boys were wrong (they were) or whether they deserve punishment (they do). The issue is, has been and always will be whether or not the felony adult charge of attempted murder was really fare justice for-and I quote - "victim was treated for a concussion and multiple bruises, was released and later attended a school function".
LaSalle how could you post so prolifically on the topic if you aren't even aware of what is being debated?

YOU ARE AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF PEOPLE WHO TAKE A SMALL AMOUNT OF UNVERIFIED INFORMATION AND JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS.
THE FACT IS YOU DON'T KNOW WHY THE 6 COWARDS JUMPED ON 1 KID. I DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHY. I'VE HEARD ALL THE BULLSHIT AND THE "HE SAID AND SHE SAID" BUT WE DON'T KNOW WHO SHOT SAM AT THIS TIME.
BY THE WAY, LEAVE MY MOM AND DAD OUT OF THIS, THEY GAVE ME MORE THAN YOU HAVE OR EVEN SUSPECT.
AGAIN, YOU ARE REAL GOOD AT JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS WITH NO INFORMATION.
YOU DENIGRATE AN ENTIRE RACE WITH YOUR SMALL-MINDED, WRONG CONCLUSIONS.
JUST TRY TO GROW UP AND BE A MAN. I REALIZE THIS IS A BIG STEP FOR YOU. BUT YOU CAN DO IT IF YOU TRY REAL HARD. THAT IS, UNLESS YOU ARE A "CRACK ADDICT OR SOME OTHER KIND OF DOPE ADDICT.
THE ONLY REASON YOU, AND OTHERS JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS IS FEAR.
THERE IS NO REASON TO FEAR. WHEN ALL THE INFORMATION IS KNOWN, AND IT ISN'T YET, APPROPRIATE ACTION WILL BE TAKEN.
BY THE WAY, HOW CAN WE REINFORCE THE LEGAL SYSTEM IF YOU DON'T LET IT WORK, OR EVERYTIME IT STARTS TO WORK WE CALL AL (SHOW ME THE MONEY) SHARPTON, AND JESSE (HATED BY MLK) JACKSON?
YOU AND I AGREE ON THAT ONE POINT, WE NEED TO REINFORCE THE LEGAL SYSTEM. BUT, LET IT WORK THROUGH THE PROCESS, THEN IF IT'S WRONG, THAT IS WHEN "WE THE PEOPLE" - THE MOST POWERFUL FORCE ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH, MUST GO TO WORK.
BUT TO GO OFF HALF COCKED, OR TO WHINE BEFORE THE PROCESS RUNS THROUGH IS NOTHING BUT WHINING AND I WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN THOSE ACTIVITIES.
WE'VE ALL BEEN THROUGH WAY TO MUCH TO WAIVER NOW!!
BUT WE CAN'T CHASE THE PUPPY ANYMORE, IT'S TIME FOR THE PUPPY TO COME TO US!!

If you read the article by the Christian Science Monitor, which seems to be the only unbiased report, there is not question that someone with a record like the individual charged as an adult, should be held accountable. The FBI was involved in the investigation.

The decision to charge a repeat offender is not a racial decision. The decision was based on this offense and the history of offenses leading up to this most recent offense.

A concussion is a very serious injury, even if the victim was at a school function after being treated and released.

Add to that, the face that six people attacked one individual. I think he should be tried as an adult. Being tried as an adult might save his life. But instead, he is being treated as a hero and a victim to be rescued. After a year or so, he will want attention again. I wonder how he will get that "attention fix?"

Next time, he may take someone's life or his life might be taken. Not a healthy situation. A bad behavior has been rewarded and now, he gets a plea agreement. In his mind he is weighing the "risk and reward" of bad behavior. It sure looks like his bad behavior has been rewarded.

Hide and watch, it's just a matter of time before we will reap the harvest of the bad seeds planted.

Thank you, Dirty Dan, for succinctly summing up the whole mess. And now I choose to retire from the board and spend my time doing more productive things than trying to change people's minds when they are closed to the truth.

I agree with you.

While I don't think this was a waste of time. It's interesting to see that racists exist on both sides of this debate and perhaps there is no cure for racists and bigots who lower themselves to slurs once they are unable to connect the dots and reason.

It looks like we still have a sad future.

Don't worry 'bout anything. These black teenagers from Jena,La [I have 1st hand knowledge of Jena as I've played basketball in that gym, been through there on Hwy 165 many many many many many many many times going to Monroe, La.] will be in trouble with the law in a short period of time. The videos on youtube with them flaunting the 100dollar bills show the contempt they have for society. In your face attitude. What you see is the inner soul of the black. I have no idea how much $$$$$$$ rolled in to help with their legal defense but you can rest assured it wasn't all used for attorneys. Probably bought a blunt, some weed, 40's , CD's, and various other things other than what it was supposed to be used for. If I ever got into trouble I'd have to pay my own way. But, once and again, that's what blacks do best.........."get over" on others.

When it comes to the youth in this little mystery, I don't have a lot of faith.

These are shallow, self-centered people. With that in mind, I don't see these kids serving their country.

They are not the types that serve their country, they have been trained to have their country serve them. Until their time is finished they will seek out the next hand-out. They will manipulate the system to get all they can.

Sure, in the military I saw those types. They were always looking for a way to milk the system for just a few more bucks. Most of them go to work at the post office when they get out.

I, for one, hope to never again see the likes of McNamara's 100,000.

I like the voluntary military just fine. Mandatory service will never produce quality...just quantity.

We need dependable people in the military, not flakes.

Though, I realize the Army has very low standards compared to other branches of the military. The Army takes more Category 4s than any other branch. Eventually, even the Army will need quality people.

Heaven only knows "Now that is the most craziest thing I have ever heard. Face the fact these guys hung the noose to pick with these black kids. An they got what they were asking for a ass whipping. NOOSES ARE RACIAL RELATED. I AM A 4th year HISTORY PROFESSOR I KNOW. SO STOP SUGAR COATING IT."

Number one - If you are a 4th year history professor, you ought to be able to write better than this! Use commas. It is not "most craziest", it is "craziest". It is "racially related" not racial related. It is "an a** whipping" not a a** whipping. What college did you attend - U of Phoenix?
Number two - The kids that hung the nooses had nothing to do with Justin Barker. Justin Barker was NOT one of the noose hangers. If the nooses were the reason for the beating, why didn't they beat up the noose hangers when that happened SIX MONTHS PRIOR to this event? The nooses are a smoke screen. Read Mychal Bell's account of the event. Don't just spout what you "hear".

The kid beaten did not have anything to do with the noose incident. The beating occured 6 months later. The problem is blacks believe they can use terrorism on anyone they want and they can use race as a defense. Bullshit! Just look at the stats and anyone can see who commits the most violent crime in this country and that is: blacks and Hispanics. They earn there reputation and are more racist than whites!
I couldn't have said it better myself.

Having major media sue, and win the right to be present at, and report on, all proceedings, probably was the biggest factor in getting this deal done.
For over a year, we have heard one side of this story, and it's come from this DA.
Shining a media light on the any future proceedings would have shown all this to be just what it has been, from the beginning.
A heavy handed DA, and a rigged court system, in a little town in Louisiana.
Government- media fed pigs like you should be brought to Louisiana and forced to live with the likes of these criminals. And now the mother of Mychal Bell is charged with two counts of assault and battery, and when caught and charged for shoplifting, poor pitiful Mychal Bell shot himself for fear of how he would look at trial. Too bad it was not your child that Bell and the other five criminals beat unconscious on school property. You might get a good look at who the true guilty parties were in this case. You are disgusting!
