Wait a minute...

The white kids hung ropes and the blacks beat someone up?

"Fairness when it comes to justice." It'll never happen.

WHY are people standing behind persons who've done something so violent? Why is it they think THAT is right?

You need to investigate the news rather than regurgitate an infinitessimal amount of it.

Those weren't the only two incidents to occur at the school. A portion of the school was burned by arson just days before the infamous beating. Fist fights broke out all over campus at various times during the Fall semester in 2006.

And a white male who is a former student pulled a gun on two Black students at a convenience store after exchanging words (one of the students is numbered among the Jena Six). The two students were charged with theft of a firearm after it was confirmed that they wrestled the white dude's gun from him to keep from getting shot, then ran. Frankly I wouldn't give him back his gun either! Oh, and the white male--he's not facing any charges. I guess the DA couldn't find any laws on the books that would substantiate that threatening Blacks with a firearm was a crime.

Read, investigate, understand. While I don't condone fighting, I don't condone the subtleties of psychological conditioning either. Those nooses ilicited a direct and perverse threat to those who witnessed it, and the racist school board dismissed it as a prank. If that entire incident isn't primed for catalyst status, I don't know what is. There was always a racist undercurrent in Jena, hell in many cities across the U.S., Blacks know in which parts of town they're not welcomed so that they won't be harrassed. Let a Black man with a good job, no criminal record, impeccable morals & an upstanding family move into an all-white neighborhood...he'll find racist letters at his doorstep, threats on his answering machine, and damage to his property. Gee, I surely hope he didn't let his little cocker spaniel Rusty roam inside his gated yard, Rusty will be good as gone or worse.

So why would a lil city in my home state of Louisiana with scarcely 3,000 people with a predominately white populus and an all-white jury be deemed anything but racist? Because there's no other moniker that fits the "not me, I dont see um" behavior.

please help me to understand why a noose is such a dominant symbol of racism against just the blacks? in the 1700's and 1800's that was they way of the law (and i think even earlier than that)... im not making any justifications.... and im sure there were many innocent people that faced their sentence... but not just blacks... what about the salem witch trials.... how many (hundreds?) of white women were hung and burned at the stake cause they were "thought" to be witches??? and that was even earlier than 1700's...

There is more than one side to this story. Please view this video, it shows another side.

This video was recorded before last week's development when Mychal Bell's conviction was overturned.

The Salem Witch trials dealt with lifestyle choices.
Blacks were hung simply because they were born black, they did not choose to be black.

6 people beating a single person is a crime. Hanging nooses is ignorant and stupid but not a crime. Jesse and Al will do anything to capitalize on an event to get their faces on TV.
No wonder our country is so divided at times.

Here we go again!! Now someone please explain how:

3 White kids hang nooses from a tree.
I guess I just dont get it!!
Whats the big deal. Yes it was wrong what the 3 white kids did, but 6 blacks beating up 1 defenseless kid, white or black, should be punished.
Heres my question: Does Al Sharpton think we should let them get away with this or what?
I'm lost on this one!
I'm with you, Ralph. I don't get it either.

It wasn't right what the white kids did and they should absolutely be disciplined for their actions. But there's a BIG difference from hanging nooses (which didn't physically hurt anyone) to 6 kids ganging up on one and beating the crap out of him, don't you think?

You need to understand the WHOLE picture. At the Highschool there is a tree where only whites sat for lunch, a black student asked the principle if blacks could also sit there the principle said they could sit where ever they wanted. The next day nooses were hung in that tree. After that incident a fire was started in the school. Two students were at a store and had a gun pulled on them, they wrestled the gun away(to keep from being shot) and were charged with theft, while the gunman was NOT charged with anything. After that a black student was beat at a party by MORE THAN 3 white kids. NOT ONE OF THEM WAS CHARGED. In retailiation the black students beat up one of the boys involved in the beating of the black boy. ALL SIX of the black boys were charged and could spend the rest of their lives in jail. And I have to add that the white boy only had cuts and bruises and was released from the hospital within a couple hours.
So I will ask you, why weren't the white students, who hung nooses, pulled a shotgun, and GANGED up on a black boy NOT CHARGED with anything?
Jena is a small town with a mostly white population, the police already showed their racist side while charging the black boys with theft when trying to defend themselves. It is NOT RIGHT AND THOSE BOYS DON'T DESERVE TO SPEND THE REST OF THEIR LIVES BEHIND BARS.

And to add to my last post: The white boy that was beaten up was saying racial slurs at the black boy who was beaten a few days before, that is why the fight started.

In this case it is dominant symbol of hate. There is a tree at the school that has ONLY been used by white students, a black student asked permission to sit there (when you shouldn't need permission to sit where you want) he was told he can sit where ever, the next day nooses were hung there. The nooses were place there by white students, which should be considered a hate crime, not just a school prank.

Who is THAT man? That is not JENA, LA. nor is it JENA HIGH SCHOOL. All the things he says is not facts, nor did micheal bell get 22 years. He has not be sentenced yet. Why did he not say he was already a four time convicted criminal? This is his fifth offense. How many strikes before you are out? Or is he above the law? The other altercations and the 5 other Jena six do not have a criminal record like BELLS!
