These planned "events" sound like they'd have to pay people to attend if they're between the age of 12 and 65.

The 400th Anniversary of Santa Fe should be something we all would look forward to. I am.

sounds well worth 7 million, with little or nothing to do with santa fe. What is the point? Again, it seems there is zero coordination with the existing fiesta council activities...

Oh great, we'll be able to see big name entertainers like Survivor and KISS at the concerts. You all just need to talk to the people at Camel Rock Casino, I'm sure you can take some of their gigs planned for the next 16 months. The Royal Canadians were just at Buffalo Thunder over this past New Years. I guess we should expect to see them again.

I have to agree with the New Mexican, there sure are gaping holes in the events planned for this seven million dollar mess we got ourselves into.

La Politica will be in grand display during the scheduling of this boondoggle. Remember the Freddie Fender fiascos? We should spend the year trying to build bridges between the different cultures that inhabit this land. Why do we need Spanish royalty here? They have had little to do with us for centuries! As far as entertainment is concerned, the money they would pay 'big names' should be spent on educating and training our young people on their musical heritage before it is lost forever. They could then entertain the turistas and give them a reason to come back to visit!

I can hardly wait to see the videos resulting from the anniversary. Hopefully the organizers have learned that we are not the oldest state capital--something that was on a banner produced by the 400th anniversary committee last year in the roundhouse.
I agree with Puebloman--a boondoogle that will have little to do with the majority of the people in the state.
