The legislator proposing to give a half a million to this institute is the brother of Robert Vigil, former state treasurer and federal criminal. His wife has also had ethical issues as a school official.
Shouldn't the HUD investigation end before the legislature is so quick to honor the speaker? He is linked to that scandal.
Or will Highlands find itself in the same boat as the Hispanic Cultural Center when something is named after a discredited legislator? The cultural center has a torreon named for Manny Aragon, federal criminal.
Isn't it time to say enough?

I am appalled that our legislators are even concerned with or care about the bolo tie forum. We have bigger issues that are of dire need of review and this is what is on the agenda...WOW! Itís time to focus on what matters - health care, education and energy resources. It is time to put away personal agendas and do what is right for the people of New Mexico.
