"If it were allowed to open, he said, children would be exposed potential danger from visitors to the area.

"We have to protect our children; they are our future," he said."

Ever wonder what bullshlt sounds like? This is it. Anthony - the town filled with graffiti, gangers and NO jobs! NONE! And these cretins are worried about a casino? There's no elementary school near that site at all. Dona Ana Community College is on the hill and by God people those college kids know a little about a lot.

Anthony should be jumping through its own as/s to get this casino.

Acevedo said "the casino would be located near Loma Linda Elementary School and Doña Ana Community College.

If it were allowed to open, he said, children would be exposed potential danger from visitors to the area".

The dangers to the chirldren in Anthony, N M already are available just look within your community... no sidewalks, no street lights, playgrounds although there are a few they are controled by gang members and are a recruiting ground for young gang members and the water system is the worst in the state and the community has a more sinister problem with the vise that this community has long been known for. It's time to go door to door and find out just who lives in your own pueblito and begin the clean-up from within

Mr. Acevedo should go his pastor's house and check it out. Also check out his threads and his wheels. That's where this inept hypocritical concern is originating from. The town of Anthony, NEW MEXICO is a dump that could benefit from just about any type of legal business willing to locate there. What he needs to do as a public official is go buy large garbage bags and set a good example by starting at Acosta Rd and pick up all the garbage the lazy residents dispose of on the street. Maybe they will get off their rear ends and start cleaning the town. This way the town won't be an eyesore for the casino.

The proposed casino would be about 2 miles from Loma Linda
School and across the I-10 from the community college. It
would also be a good source for jobs for those attending the college. Most of the new businesses that have started
in Anthony have been on the Texas side of Anthony in case
the trusee's of the new City of Anthony, NM haven't noticed.

let them build it. Its a lie about it being next to the school. Juan do you know your area? Half a mile is not next door. More restaurants and retailers? The people of Anthony need more jobs to go out and eat and shop. No major employer is in the area. There are no jobs. Everyone needs to travel to El Paso or Las Cruces for a job.

Sorry, folks, I disagree. The casino will bring nothing but a few minimum wage jobs to the area. Anyone who has ever lived near a "freeway casino" knows that they are trouble. The area around them is trashed, policing needs to be increased, traffic stops at the casino and does not spend money on anything else in the area, plus the clientele is not exactly top notch. There is one casino in our area, that's enough.

Technically the proposed casino would be .847 miles (driving distance)from Loma Linda and .638 miles apart.
