School daze

Wow I can't believe the kids go back to school so early next month after they didn't miss any weather days. I dread it for them because of all of the homework the kids bring home.when parents work 12 & 13 hours a day it's kinds hard to sit the rest of the nite and explain homework to them. I don't remember having that much when I went. I think since the kids go back so early that no homework should start till the time changes my little oneslike to play outside til dark but when shill starts back we do homework til dark then start getting prepared for the next day... Heck I would like for my kids to get to watch a movie with us a home instead of at school...let them do the majority of work at school and give us some family time at home!!!!!!!

Agree completely! I was really upset when my boy brought in a ton of homework before school was out and said he didn't completely understand it. Which I accepted, but later when I heard they watched part of a movie in class I got really peeved off. I want them to do things and enjoy themselves and not hate school and be interested I just wished that the homework could be incorporated with class time or homework could be something to do with homelife instead of sitting at the dining table half the nite to do busy work... But teachers are running scared withthis "nochild left behind business" which needs to end.they are afraid to teach fundamentals or stray away from good ideas..they needto be let loose and teach our childen that's is what they went to college for...not us.if I was good at all this homework stuff I would homeschool mine and save me some money!!!!!!

All this homework was started way before this no-child left behind! Back then the teachers were in the teachers-lounge instead of being in the class room helping the kids. I feel sorry for the kids but not the teachers! If they would have done there jobs and helped the kids it wouldn't be hard on them right now! The teachers done this to themselves and the take there anger out on the kids and blame the parents for everything! I'll say it again. I feel sorry for the kids and parents, but not the teachers!!!!!

Hey I really liked that one idea of no homework until the time changes.since schools start back earlier ech year and are going longer, eventually it's headed for about two to three weeks off for summer break and that's all. I'm all for that... How do we get that done???and something else about homework,, the teachers need to have to grade it theirselves because I'm sick and tired of my kid bringing bad grades on it when another child is checking it.so many times they have marked right answers wrong and I've had to send notes back to the teacher and then I've heard some kids joke about lying on how many they have missed.I guess I'm glade that my kid tells the truth about how many they missed but in the back of my mind I'd just like to say "you should fib too" my I know it's wrong so I keep tellin
em they are doing the right thing!

Maybe present that idea to the school board. They probably would shoot it down.
