The largest problem we have is our judges! The drug arrests are very high. The meth lab seizures are among the top three counties in the state. If you'll look at the surrounding counties statistics you'll see that Campbell County has a very large amount more seizures than all the counties that border it. The problem is the judges slap them on the wrist and turn them loose. All they do is put them on probation and if they're already on probation it just gets extended. Everyone wants tougher law enforcement but when they get tough with people everyone wants to complain that they're just bullies with badges! Make up your minds.
When is it time to get a new judge? Why can't they put people behind bars for a while so we can all get some sleep at night instead of worrying about what a "drug habit" is stealing from you to support their need. When are they the "drug sellers" going to go to prison like some others did. Is it also true that TBI needs to step in because nothing is going to get better until they make arrests.Bring on the TBI if this is true. What happens to all that drug money that they take in during raids,is the money maybe why the "sellers" are still out there.A little extra income for the pockets(?)

Suggesting that Law Enforcement are taking payoffs??? I don't believe that. Crime is on the rise everywhere, not just here. Many places around the country are having rising numbers in crime rates. Our judges are getting too easy on the Offenders. It seems if you talk to any law enforcement officers in different jurisdictions, its the same story. Most will tell you they are getting fed up with the justice system. The Officers make the arrest and the judge turns them loose, same ole story. There are many former Officers who say this is the reason they gave up their careers in law enforcement. They put on a gun, a bullet proof vest, and a badge everyday for minimum pay. They don't make much over minimum wage. They kiss their families goodbye because they know it could very well be their last goodbyes. Then they go to work. And then the things they have to deal with during their shift is sometimes beyond terrible. Just like the unfortunate tragedy we had a couple of mornings ago down 116. A crash that killed two young boys. Rumor has it one of the boys was actually still alive when Officers arrived on scene. A County Deputy leaned through the car and held the boy until the Rescue Squad and EMS could cut him loose from the car he was trapped in. It was too late, his injuries were much and he passed away in the Officers arms before he could be freed in time! After this the Officers didn't get to go home, they had to go back on the road and work. So when they make an arrest and the judges sets them loose, its extremely discouraging. Some work a 12 hour shift at night, then have time to maybe eat breakfast, and then go to court and sit all day and listen to the judge set free the criminals. Then they have about enough time to go home and shower and then back to work for another 12 hours. They do their best and for you people to get on here and talk down about them shows who the true cowards are! It may be you or one of your children that they are holding in their arms while taking your last breath someday! And they don't care if you've talked trash about them or not, they'll do it anyways!

No not suggesting Law Enforcement right out but someone.I wasn't trying to put down law enforcement but just saying if our judges turn them loose then if TBI made arrest what would happen, would it be the same judges? I just know a situation where TBI came in and this person went to prison, and was doing the same thing all the rest of them are. When I made the comment about voting out a judge I meant when is it time? I know the law has done good especially county, but Jellico has really let us down in the past.I don't talk trash about them but as you know when crime is running rampant then usually it comes to blame on the law.I would really like to see people go to prison and stay a while,it also seems like some do but some don't,again as you say the judge turns them loose. So I understand then if we keep or get a new sheriff it isn't going to make a difference (is it?)

When it comes time to vote judges out, vote them out. Vote out our D A. Vote Perkins out. Vote out crazy commissioners . Vote everyone out and start new. It might help might not but we need to give it a try. Can't stand much more of this.We also need tougher laws on, tougher sentencing on crime we have now. Vote in reps. and leg. in Tn. house. Need larger jail. It is a mess. Thanks for letting me vent.

If the TBI makes an arrest on charges in this county then they go to court in this county so it wouldn't help. Talk to a TBI Agent and they'll tell you we have a huge problem with our court system. They don't even like to attempt to prosecute cases here. New judges and new d.a.'s especially!!! You're right. There is money involved. Its called "probation". Its nothing more than a money racket for the court system.

I stopped at the shell at the Exit one night on my way down from Ky. to fill my Harley up and those guys that hang around the shell at night in the parking lot started talking to me about my bike and told me a story about Gary's Harley and said one of them had tried to get it when it was seized or something and they told me people in Jellico didn't want another person from their town in office now does anyone know why didn't the public get a chance to bid on that Harley if it was seized in some way and why wasn't we aware of it things like that are supposed to be posted in the newspaper right? Is that Dirty Pool?
