Joann Bell, 79 of Monaville passed away Thursday November 10, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. Born December 18, 1931 at Newport News, VA., she was the daughter of the late Odell and Shearell Powell Padgett. Also preceding her death was her husband Jackie Bell, five brothers John, Jack, James, Ralph and Jimmy Padgett, one sister Eugenia Padgett, grandchildren Chance Bell, her most beloved Crystal Dawn Bell Sheppard, one son-in-law Mark Steven Pancake and a very special friend Dolly Lowe Adkins.
Joann was an avid supporter of education. After raising her four children she returned to school, where she received her GED in 1974 after taking and EMT class. She then returned to school and became an LPN in 1979. Joann worked at Holden Hospital after graduation. When the hospital closed, she worked at 3 Mile curve Mental Health and then Voca of Man. After retiring, she continued to work doing home health. Joann loved and cherished each moment spent with all of her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons Jackie Lee (Kathy) Bell of Whitman and Terry Michael (Teresa) Bell of Belo, two daughters Greta Ann (Roger) Miller of Peach Creek and Margaret “Maggie” Carol Pancake of Monaville, three brothers Donald (Linda) Padgett of Hampton, VA, Norman (Charlotte) Padgett of Man and Robert “Bobby”(Mary) Padgett of Whitman, two sisters Margaret Carter of Holden and Faye Summersville of Winfield, 12 grandchildren Roger Miller, Shannon Bell, Jill Ward, Brenda Heck, Caryn Miller, Mark Pancake, Michelle Steele, Katie Bell, Daniel Bell, Elmo Bell, Sean Bell and Allison Bell,16 Great Grandchildren and 3 on the way and three great great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Joann’s life will be held on Saturday November 12, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV.
