heard mostly Mexicans work there!
I noticed they are moving the trailers where all those mexicans lived out whats up with that?? are they going to hire some english speaking people??
They are moving the trailers to Means. They are paying a man big money to park the trailers there so all those mexicans can live there. They need to send them back to mexico and hire americans. |

Like the american would work.
Changed the name to Mexican Mill Works
There are a lot of Americans that will work. Right now, many are laid off.

Looks like american's and mexicans are gonna loose now. They have cut 2nd shift out all togather. Fired some and laid some off! Some employee's did get to go to 1st shift, didnt sound fair. Don't understand how they can hire one week, then turn around and cut a shift out completely. Guess there are lots I dont understand!

Big company dont care bout little fellows!
they aren't very community friendly. thorn berry got free property payed no city tax ma by no county tax collected 900,000 dollars plus from state [tax payer]for new road. sold for big price and moved on took their money too Fayette co. molding & mill work INC. saw an opportunity to operate with out paying taxes and using Mexican help they have been very few people employed from this community. the jeffersonville community has an investment in the company. i don`t see much in return for our investment. except a little noise little dust and some air polluting.

Very glad to have a job right now. Dont know much about company business, dont care as long as they keep a pay check coming each week.
This company had to make cut backs by laying off people and closing second shift,Then wants first shift to work over time every day. Doesn't make sense to me.I bet some of those who were layed off wouldn't be too happy to know that!
They now have the employees working 10-12 hour days after laying off, they are taking applications for new employees...Hiring 3...I think maybe they should have called some of those layed off back to work before hiring new ones! I totally agree the big man could care less!

Wow! It sounds like you have a whole lot of business sense...uuuhhh NOT! Thornberry operated under the KREDA tax, like most companies in Montgomery County. The owners paid taxes from their own pockets, not the companies. They got money from the new road because their property was split and this hindered future growth. Moulding & Millwork saw a well maintained and impressive operation that lead them to make an offer to the Thornberry's. With the economy going south the Thornberry's did what they thought would be best for the workers...they sold the company to one of the largest companies in North America which would be Moulding & Millwork so that it can withstand the economy changes because of the large amount of resource. If the Thornberry's did not sell, do you honestly think the millwork company would be open today? As far as Jeffersonville citizens working for the company, obviously you don't know much about the turn over. The Mexicans that work there, you know the ones that you are dogging...well, they work between 55-60 hrs a week, get paid less than most of the americans and don't get benefits or paid holidays, oh and they don't get vacation pay. Now this info is from about 6 months ago, it could have changed. Now...you tell me how many Jeffersonville citizens work under those conditions...Yes, the Jeffersonville community has an investment, instead of giving the Mexicans that "ARE" working a hard time, how about giving the Jeffersonville citizens a hard time for working sometimes to dinner for one day or maybe a whole day before they quit...oh wait no sometimes they may not even show up once they've been hired... |

i don`t doubt that it`s hard to find any one to work. if they have a drug policy it`s hard to find people that can pass a drug test .my problem with this picture is that someone dropped the ball when this adventure was started. i don`t blame the thornburies for taking advantage of a good thing. correct me if i am wrong. the city of jeffersonville gave the thornburies the land to build on. the county [tax payers] built a road to the site. the new road came through their property the state offered 700.000 dollars plus. they did n take it went to Cort asking over one million.a jury awarded them over nine hundred thousand.[again the tax payers] the contractor kneaded a waste Ara. worked out for both of them they got their big holes filled with waste material for free they built to new buildings on the fill that they got put in free. lucky i guess. i doubt that the thornburies sold for the good of the employ's. for the good of jimmy & dad i would guess.i feel like the city of jeffersonvill shot them selves in the foot in this adventure. i don`t know what the tax paying community is getting for their money. no taxes their are 3 or 4 employs that eats lunch in local places each day other than that what other benefit are their? one more thing the city of jeffersonville and Montgomery co fiscal court loaned their company several thousand dollars when they started at a low interest rate. the new company that bout the company keeps a low profile. don`t know any thing about them.

i noticed that the new company moved the three trailers of their property.at one time their were about 30 Mexicans living in three single wide house trailers. i guess they were all legal? cheep labor big profit.

I'm not sure about the free land and the free road. This could be possible due to a growth advantage in J'ville. Which would be an advantage if the citizens of J'ville would work there. The Thornberry's did go to court for the road splitting up the property, but like I said the road had hindered future growth, any great business minded person would do what they needed to fill this void. If it wasn't for the great business minded people behind this business it would have been shut down a long time ago. I'll agree that the pay to the plant workers is not the greatest starting out however if the worker put forth their potential and showed up for work on time every day they were awarded with larger pay increases than you would see in most businesses. As far as Jimmy & Jim selling the company for their own benefit. I'm sure they thought about their own future while selling, who wouldn't? Jimmy & Jim are wonderful people that I knew personally. I wished they could have kept their company but I don't blame them for the move that was badly needed, obviously you don't know anything about their profit or their loss...
