Soaring Society has eyes on sky [RC soaring]
On a recent Sunday afternoon, Lee Atchison, 13, stood in an open field at Charlie Vettiner Park, a controller in his hands and his eyes trained on the sky.
His sailplane, almost 1,000 feet in the air, was barely visible against the cloudless, bright blue.
A couple of hawks joined the little plane, silently dipping and swirling through the warm airstream.
They are working the same lift he is, said Ed Wilson, Lee's stepfather, and president of the Louisville Area Soaring Society.

Lee might find it interesting to fly in a full sized sailplane with the Louisville Soaring Club which operates from the Bardstown airport. See www.soarky.org for more details
