I am of the warrior blood also, it gets hot fast (maybe it's because I have some Irish in there also).
My Native roots have been traced back to Chief Big Spring.
My grandmother used to tell me stories and I thought it was a season...I wish I had listened closer.

Why not JD?
Just an honest question ...

This to me is about as serious a discussion we have really had on here. I have NO IDEA who ANY of you are, and I don't think ANYbody on here knows who I am,(either except for the poster from the other day, that knows me.)

But don't we 'at least' have to take each other at his/her word when it is this serious? Until we 'know' different ...???:)

A Brief History of The National Rifle Association

Dismayed by the lack of marksmanship shown by their troops, Union veterans Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate formed the National Rifle Association in 1871. The primary goal of the association would be to "promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis," according to a magazine editorial written by Church.
After being granted a charter by the state of New York on November 17, 1871, the NRA was founded. Civil War Gen. Ambrose Burnside, who was also the former governor of Rhode Island and a U.S. Senator, became the fledgling NRA's first president.

The Republican Party - Grand Ole Party

All of Us Equal
In 1861, the Civil War erupted, lasting four grueling years. During the war, against the advice of his cabinet, President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation that freed the slaves. The Republicans of the day worked to pass the Thirteenth Amendment, which outlawed slavery; the Fourteenth Amendment, which guaranteed equal protection under the laws; and the Fifteenth, which helped secure voting rights for African-Americans. All of these accomplishments extended and cemented the fundamental freedoms our nation continues to enjoy today.
...
The Republican Party also played a leading role in securing women the right to vote. In 1896, the Republican Party was the first major political party to support women’s suffrage. When the 19th Amendment finally was added to the Constitution, 26 of 36 state legislatures that had voted to ratify it were under Republican control. The first woman elected to Congress was a Republican, Jeanette Rankin from Montana in 1917. So it was by hardworking Republican hands that color and gender barriers were first demolished in America.

Freedom Fighters
Abolition. Free speech. Women’s suffrage. These were all causes the Republican Party adopted early on. So, too, were reducing the size of government, streamlining bureaucracy, and returning power to individual states. With a core belief in the primacy of individuals, the Republican Party, since its inception, has been at the forefront of the fight for individuals’ rights in opposition to a large, intrusive government.

Read the Republican Platform of 1856

And what of the nickname "Grand Old Party"?

The nickname of the Republican Party didn't get attached to it until 1888. Previously, the nickname had been used by Southern Democrats. After the Republicans won back the Presidency and Congress for the first time since the Grant administration, the Chicago Tribune proclaimed: "Let us be thankful that under the rule of the Grand Old Party ... these United States will resume the onward and upward march which the election of Grover Cleveland in 1884 partially arrested."

History by Era

“History by Era” is the Institute’s innovative new approach to our shared national history. At its core it is a collection of fifty individual introductions written by some of the most distinguished scholars of our day. Yes JD, I agree to a point ...

He has put his real name[I think] on here before ...
You can't necessarily go by what is in the gray box!

He uses different names ...
According to MOOD ... like we all have done at one point ...
I'm thinking ...

He's just saying he's an American, and a Native ...
Thus American Native ...
Me too, that's what I am ...

Exercise your "Rights" Walking Tour

Click on map to jump to a location
You're a Republican visiting Philadelphia, so we've created a tour just for you. You see a number of the historic sites and when you turn, you always turn to the right!

You know that Philly is filled to the brim with some of the greatest historical sites in American history. But you want something special, something personal. Well, why not try the Exercise your "Rights" Walking Tour, specially designed for the staunch conservatives (right turns only, of course) by well-known Philadelphia tour guide Ed Mauger.

Independence Hall Courtyard
Independence Hall
Chestnut between 5th and 6th Sts.

Here is where it all began, the arguments that helped forge a nation and a new form of government. The roots of American conservatism can be traced to the basic discussions about the role of government and states during the 1780's.

At the end of the 18th century, Philadelphia was the largest, most successful and wealthiest city in the country. In fact, Philadelphia was so prosperous that it boasted one tavern for every 25 men. The city was the location of the first hospital, fire company, lighted street and medical school in the USA. It was commented that Philadelphia was "a London in wealth, more than a London in arrogance."

We will need our weapons one day and soon, lets not be like the Jewish people who were slaughtered by a madman. Madman as in what is the so-called leader of America.
