Old fire stations preserved, reused in Madison, other cities

There are 1 comment on the Wisconsin State Journal story from Apr 18, 2009, titled Old fire stations preserved, reused in Madison, other cities. In it, Wisconsin State Journal reports that:

Standing inside 301 N. Broom St., you can't hear the clanging alarm bells or the "wheeoo!" of the siren, but there are clear signs this otherwise modern office building was once home to firefighters and the tools of their trade.

I remember my father working at several of these stations. I drive by them and recollect visiting Dad at work, seeing all the trucks, etc...
I am glad that part of Madison's history is being preserved.
