Jefferson Parish, according to it's latest TV ads, is a progressive and green thinking place to live. Shame on the Parish Council and that guy we call the Parish President for not putting recycling at the top of the must have list. Recycling can no longer be something we decide if we want or don't want to do, it's necessary. The amount of waste that goes into our landfills that could be recycled is an environmental tragedy. Instead of paying a set amount for garbage collection, perhaps we should be assessed by the amount that is collected from each residence. Then I bet people would think recycling was a great idea. Other areas of the country do just that. Recycling must become second nature if we ever hope to leave this planet in better shape than we found it. So get to it Jefferson Parish and do the right thing!
