Hello. It is of our opinion that Memorial Hill belong to the citizens of Clairton. We are not being paid to do this work and it is our hope that as we take care of things that need done around Clairton that the city will prosper and they will be able to hire back the workers needed to maintain.

We obviously are not taking work away from anyone as this hill is not currently part of the city's regular maintenance.

We believe that if we see something that needs done, we will do it.

Actually, it was Mr.Paul Dusi that inspired us to take this action by doing just that.

Honestly, that is like saying "I can't pick up this litter on the street and put it in the garbage."

There is a lot that needs done around Clairton; we ARE NOT taking work away from anyone. If one thing is complete, move onto the next!

Projects like this that are open to all will bring people together. It will spur new hope by seeing that there ARE actually people still here who care and want to make a difference.
The key IS: Together, we can make a difference.
Don't give up on Clairton; this is our home.

I totally agree with you. You can't take something away from someone that they haven't been doing to begin with. I have seen the pictures of your progress and hope that I will be able to offer some help in the near future. At any rate, it is starting to look very nice and it is wonderful that people care about something in this town. It's about time.

Back in the mid 1970's, our group was doing lite clean up of trash and leaves on memorial hill and along the road in the park. A police officer threatened to arrest us and told us it was cleaned by the union and to stay out of the park and not walk through it or use the public road. No one was taking care of the area then for many, many months or years. We called the County and the city and there was no union or anyone else cleaning it. We also reported be denied access to a public right of way. Clairton/ Wilson was a dying town then and continues its slide into decrepitude and mediocrity.

Third street: This has been brought up before council a few weeks ago about being stopped by police when trying to do good; they are now aware that we are doing this work.

I've been hearing the same comments over and over both on here and in person about people starting and then being discouraged or people who want to do something but do not know where to start, if they are allowed, etc.
The thing I want to point out is that ALL these people CARE.
There are MANY of us out there that can make a difference, we just have to find each other and work together.
This technology will help with that...I love that we have a place to communicate with those we've never met.

The road up and around memorial Hill, should never been closed in the first place, people used it to visit the area, why should a senior park at the ball field and walk up to his/her destination?

For those of you that haven't seen the work being done, a few pics from last week are posted here:

The before pictures are also pasted on the website.
I would REALLY like to see the before pictures when it was first built. Does anyone have any?

I don't know the reasoning behind the road being blocked off...I can only assume.
Hopefully, we can change things by working together.
