Would there be any interest in having an excellent music store in Jefferson City?

Yes. I was speaking to someone about this on Saturday. Definitely needs to be done.

Hard to make money though. The internet is killing these type of businesses. People will walk in and find what they want and then go home and log in to Amazon or Ebay and get it cheaper. Really sucks but that's the reality.

I wouldn't mind a good one close by. I don't want to go to Morristown, Sevierville, or Knoxville.

It would be awesome, but rkm910 nailed it on the head. Interent killed small town/mom & pop stores.(So did big box stores to an extent, i.e. Guitar Center etc.) It would have to be done by someone that owned the storefront, was able to maintain low overhead and really not need to make much money! LOL!
Like a retirement thing or a hobby.

Most people going into a small business way under estimate what their costs are going to be and the sales they will need to make to offset these costs. Any commercial storefront with a decent traffic count and visibility and parking is going to cost a thousand bucks a month for just the rent and electricity. Then there is insurance and other costs. Add an employee or two and your costs skyrocket. Then there's your cost of inventory which will be in the tens of thousands if your are going to have a good selection. Sellers on the internet can settle for making only $3 or $4 per item because they are selling thousands of items and are either operating out of their garage or renting a cheap warehouse somewhere off the beaten path.
A lot of mom and pops open shops for emotional reasons and don't think about the reality of the business world.
There is still room for small business retail but only if you either offer a service or deal in commodity items like gas, beer, cigarettes, lottery etc.

You could offer lessons, repair, buy/sell, maybe even have a small studio within the building for local artist.

If there becomes enough interest, I would still consider
