Does the Second Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms?

The way this question is worded, the answer is no.
The 2nd. amendment does not GIVE you the right to bear arms. Your right to bear arm is given with birth. The 2nd. amendment gives individuals a guarantee that the government will not infringe upon that right.

Your concern about law abiding individuals owning firearms is bogus, and has been since the beginning. It is always easy to get law abiding folks to do what the law requires. Too bad that you do not have the guts and gumption to disarm the street gangs and drug dealers, the mexican mafia, etc etc etc, on and on. You gun control types have never understood the real problem. Those intent on crime do not obey you laws anyway and gun control does not deter criminals. Your other anti gun propaganda is just that...and mostly inaccurate and outright lies. Get some backbone and go after the bad guys, not the good guys!

I believe we have the right to bear arms. We need less goverment control of everthing. I believe the 2nd Amendment states this clearly. When lawyers and goverment start dealing with the real problem, (that is) people should be held accountable and be punshied by the law. This is just a way to say we are doing something instead of dealing with the real problem.(Punish and take away the rights of law abiding citizens)

leave the second ammendment alone. it has kept us free for these past 200 plus years. do you really know why hitler didn't in vade switerland during the second ww?? because they had over 200k reserve and standing army. and the un knows that if they want to have a one world government that we would fight not to be under such a governtment. the congress and the senate should go back and practice law in their own states and not think of way's to tear down the us of a.

Don't even think about taking away my guns or my right to own guns!!!! ANY politician who tries will be thrown out of office at the next possible opportunity! Washington DC is the murder capital of the world and guns have been outlawed for years! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. DUH!!!!!!

Yes, I believe we have a constitutional right to bear arms. It not only makes a possible intruder wander if there are guns which could be used against him/her, but also continues to help feed our family, as we still hunt deer (legally). If you are concerned about how many people die from gun wounds, then you'll need to ban phones, since there are probably more people killed in auto accidents from people using/texting on their phones. (And yes, I also use my cell ph in the car).

According to the US Constitution I have the right to own and keep arms as long as I am not a convicted criminal. I bought a gun when we lived in Florida, took 6 weeks of instruction and learned how to use and store it safely during a time when in parts of Florida there was a rash of breakins with murders. I never intend to become a victim even at 81. How dare a socialistic leaning president try to deny me this guaranted right!

To joe de mall:

The Obama administration isn't trying to take anything away from you, period. Perhaps you should consider looking at the record of the previous administration...

Naw, they just want to tax you for each gun you own...no matter how long you have owned it. And then the price of ammunition will be ten times what it is now.
You should remember that Obama is pres now...all that happens is on him.

Anything, and I mean any-f------thing the Congress can do to
gain more power and control they will try to do it.
The Constitution is not in question nor is our right to keep and bare arms. We DO have the right and we MUST speak out now.

Well, we can have the right to do anything. They are not attacking that. They are, however, attacking the ways you can pursue that right. If you only want to sit in you home and cuddle your gun, then agree with the legislation being pushed by the anti gun nuts. But if you want to continue hunting, sport shooting, and otherwise enjoying or using your gun you had better stand up and speak out now.

Pennsylvania Patriot is RIGHT. The correct answer is NO.

The Second Amendment does not give; it AFFIRMS; CONFIRMS the people's right to bear arms and guarantees that right shall not be infringed upon in the future.

Anyone who believes the right is GIVEN will also believe it can rightfully be taken away.
