... OK, why was a state trooper driving around with his pregnant girlfriend and baby inside a police vehicle???

The journalistic abilities of reporters has become abyssmal.

Sounds like speeding over and over and over. No inspection. Expired for practacally a year. Why does this clown even have a licence. A menace on the road. I hope they fine him enough that he learns his lesson. Congratulations on the great job officer friendly

Unfortunately the law gives the guy the benefit of the doubt. Where is the evidence? What did the radar gun say? Anything caught on cop cam? Sounds like this guy is being unfairly harassed.

I agree. And since when does 5 MPH over the limit constitute speeding? Must we be wrapped that tight?

What does the girlfriend have to say?

If the state police would do their jobs 70% of inspection stations and mechanics would be shut down. Look up 67 Pa code 175.51(4)(ii) and be informed. Probably tried to get his car inspected but the crooks at the garage wanted to rip him off. Why don't the state police go back to watching the coal miners strike after all that's why they were formed to do.

in an earlier article, I remember this being EARLY like 1 - 2 am ish. What the hell was doing out at that time with his girlfriend and that toddler.

Also, I must extend a thank you to "Redleg" I pointed out the same thing in the article. You beat me to the post. Our 'journalists' are horrible.

dont be to quit to judge this man! We probably dont have all of the facts and the ones we do have (coming from this newspaper) are probably TOTALLY INCORRECT!! Remember YDR is pretty high on the worst newspaper worldwide rankings!

How about he grows a pair and marries the girl like a man should. 2 kids and no married parents? Pathetic.

"I was speeding a little bit but not excessively," Roberts said.

What? How do you speed a little? Either you are or you aren't. Sort of like pregnancy. How about the case of mistaken identity? The SOGDI defense, Some Other Guy Did It. Just man up, take care of business, act like an adult and move on.

I cant believe this is in the paper at all.People are pulled over for speeding all over the United States everyday.Id say that this is an invasion of privacy,I dont see other peoples names in the paper for speeding.Last time I had a speeding ticket was in 1995,and my name wasnt in the paper. This is BS.
Im sure other people NEVER exceed the speed limit! This guys private life is no ones business.Maybe the next time someone uses the toilet,a picture should be put in the local paper and we can all discuss the applications applied to the final product.

were you charged with other violations and needed to post bail? you are comparing two totally different situations. does that help explain why your name wasn't in the paper?

Come on man, READ and COMPREHEND before you post. He has CRIMINAL charges associated with the incident. Once they are filed it is public record.

Ah so right you all are. First, this guy is entitled to a fair hearing and, if he wants, a trial before a real judge. So he will have to appeal his guaranteed finding of guilt before the District Magistrate. Note: District Magistrates are not even lawyers, and most, like Groom, are former cops (all you need is a GED, a 40 hour training course, and to win an election). Now, about the YDR/Sunday News or the Dispatch/(Hanover)Evening Sun, well where do I start? The "usual suspects" journalist wannabees like Evans, Hoover, Argento, and Lee are NOT professionals. They hate criticism and hide their "agendas" behind "pieces" that are loaded with gaffs, mistakes, rushes to judgment, political comment and garbage. They "hide" behind the 1st Amendment which they "twist" and "spin" into a fabric of shame. The editors, publishers and owners let them get away with it because of a "care less" attitude. The problem is that real professionals must have licenses and if they make mistakes their are boards that can mete out punishment or even loss of the ability given by the license (real estate people, barbers, lawyers, doctors even funeral directors and more). Indeed, for those careers mentioned herein you need proven education and sucessful test completion...even yearly training. If, however, you wannabee a "journalist" you do not need an education, nor pass a test, nor get a license. All you need to do is look in the mirror and say "I'm a journalist" and puuuffff you are. Sadly, it is the same mirror that most look into for their "sources" for "investigative" journalism. Even more sad, for us AND the 1st Amendment, the law foolishly allows lying, cheating and more realtive to the "sources" issue. Look, I believe is protecting sources, but I think that JUDGES should make the decision. Anyway, unless and until people DEMAND good reporting, all we will continue to get from OUR newspapers is the kind we have received. Fortunately, the YDR, Dispatch, Sunday News and the Evening Sun make excellent: fish wrapping paper, bird cage liner, fireplace log starter, coffee grinds wrappper, and more. Perhaps you might like to buy my next book "Journalism for Dummies or What Dd I do with the newspapers I can't sell/Now even I am a journalist."

yea, criminal charges.if he was a real criminal he would have rights.Ive noticed lately everything you do,somebody can say its criminal. Its illegal to smoke in a park. You better have a dog license. You can get busted for DUI after having 1 beer.Teenagers drink and its a big bust.Where are the real news stories, not this rag mag stuff?Id like to read about something interesting and important.People are sinking to the lowest levels imaginable, following in the footsteps of our leaders.Playing trivial pursuit.Blame Game. The mayonaise smear.Do as I say,not as I do.Pretty soon,a fart will be on public record, and it will be a crime, you will be charged, the fine will be $200.00 for relieving yourself in public.Every cop in the county will be handing out tickets. You will have to hire an attorney to defend a human function.
