The women have more fear of the weapons than they do of a Rapist or Mugger. They are more afraid of pepper spray than a Rapist. That's what the antigun culture does. It creates hoplophobes and gun phobes. It's very powerful. People have more fear of the weapons than they do of an armed criminal. They actually fear the armed law-abiding person more than the criminal.

Whatever happened to a fear of criminals ? Rapists ?

Seriously, people are more afraid of carrying a gun than they are of an attacking grizzly bear (the antigun nut actually ventures out into the grizzly bear habitat while unarmed).

So here we have the State finally respecting the 2nd amendment (to a degree), allowing people to carry guns, AND then the local govts AND public school administrators trying quickly to neutralize the new law by banning the weapons as if the State did something terribly wrong.

There are two aspects to this. Schools believe a dangerous gun ban will continue to attract their customers (new students). For them, safety is not an issue. And local govts are so antigun (and against the Bill of Rights) they think it right to ban guns from govt buildings (where the people visit).

If guns are so bad and dangerous, and if gun bans were so effective, then why is it cities like Chicago and D.C. that banned all weapons had the higher crime rates ?

It's not enough that they want to ban guns inside buildings - leaving BTC open to a shooting incident like that at NIU a while back, where only the shooter - and the police who arrived after it was all over, had guns - now they want to ensure that everyone has absolutely NO chance of self-defense unless they are a martial-arts expert.

Forcing CCW holders to remove and hide their guns in their cars is an invitation to theft - and now a criminal has a gun. Forcing people to unnecessarily handle firearms provides more chances for an accidental discharge.

Women can decide for themselves if they want to carry a gun, or pepper spray, or rely on "Safe Walk" and the police. The college has no place dictating personal defense or prohibiting it.

Last night, The Town of Beloit voted down a prohibition on guns in town buildings. Instead of blindly following the crowd racing toward the cliff, they took the time to consider resident's opinions and act accordingly.
