I can't believe that they lived in that stench smell and animal waste (6 to 20 inches). What about the child, why should any child be subject to such horrendous filth? Where is child social services? Nothing was said about the child having to endure the filth. Common sense doesn't allow for this to happen. Sorry for the child.

WOW......another case where the animals are taken care of and the child is left to fend for herself. Did they get a cruelty fine for subjecting their own child to live in those conditions?

There was no child living in the house. Their daughter mentioned in the story is grown, lives on her own. I know there was a daughter posting on a previous thread but not sure if it was the same gal.

My concern at this time is that there still doesn't seem to be a sense of personal responsibility. I hear a lot of "It's the neighbor's fault," coming through from the Florys. I do hope they can get some good counseling and their lives back on solid ground.

Bottom line they did not report the neighbors for threatening them. WHY because when it got to the point of too many dogs they did not want to be responsible enough to aquire a kennel liscence and be responsible for the correct care of these animals. People can use all the excuses they want. There is no need for filth like this. Even if you had to have animals reside in the home a room dedicated to the dogs with newspaper etc down that were removed a few times a day as well as sanitizing the floors and the owners taking turns walking them for exercise so the animals were not left outside to be victims of the neighbors threats.Don't make stupid excuses. So glad all the animals are placed. Sure hope the Florys get the mental health counceling they desperately need. Maybe there perspective of LOVE for their animals will change as well. For all of you posters defending them , you obviously dont think the conditions were bad enough to merit such drastic measures and actions. You all as well need help!!!

I noticed in the article that the neighbor began harassing the Florys when they moved in with two dogs. So the Florys collect 21 more. Makes perfect sense.(?!?) We lived in Fayetteville 20 yrs ago and had a dog hoarder next door. She kept 12 to 15 dogs. Made a filthy mess of the backyard and you couldn't even go outside on a warm day the feces smell was so horrendous. These people are mentally ill.

This is ludicrous. This couple, while exercising poor judgment, probably really loved their dogs. They just became overwhelmed.(And who is this dastardly neighbor, anyway?) Now they can't own a dog for six years? Give me a break. We've repeatedly seen truly heinous animal cruelty cases where the perpetrators received little more than a slap on the wrist. And these people get the stiff punishment??? Something is wrong with this picture.

I think that they should be made live in this condition in a comdemed area for their sentance. It's so wrong to treat animals like this!!!!!!

Both my sister and I are grown and live on our own. What I would like to know is why the hell the people that had over 600 dead pigs on their property got less fines than my parents and i'm saying over 600 DEAD PIGS where is the justice there?

I think the humane society should pay the fine with the money they sold the dogs for. You cannot go there to get a dog unless you pay. I bet they are happy ,they can use the money for the million dollar shelter. It is also a wonder they did not destroy the dogs. But this is big bucks for them..

Hey genius, how are they supposed to pay to house the animals if they give them away? Pet food and vaccinations cost money, so does euthanasia, not to mention electric, etc. Use your brain before you speak.

I had moved away from the area for a while and when i left it wasn't that bad and I moved back to the area right before this happened but it truthfully was not as bad as they made it out to be
