Those traffic signals at Walker Rd. and 81 / Kohler / Franklin Farm are needed. This is one of the most poorly designed bridges that I have ever encountered. Sight distance is horrible. And also, the road lines in this area need to be repainted so they are more visible in the rain and in the dark. Lighting would also help.

But why is this an earmark? All the businesses in the Norland shopping area should be paying for these items since without that Exit 17, they wouldn't have been built there in the first place. It should be their responsibility. A little from everyone there is better than a earmark any day. Time to listen to what JFK -- stop asking what your country can do for you. Start giving back instead.

"Greene Township officials lobbied the RPO for traffic signals at the I-81 ramps on Walker Road. U.S. Surface Transportation Act funds of $680,000 and $170,000 from the township transportation impact fee is to fund the project."

I think that Greene Twp and Borough of Chambersburg should split this $850,000 cost. It is their problem and I do not want to spend $1 dollar to fix this newly created problem.

Hold up there for one minute, Sam! As a resident of Greene Township, This whole cluster seduction at exit 17 can be pinned directly on the Boro of Chambersburg. The boro, along with the Gablers, planned, built and created this entire mess, knowing full well of the traffic congestion that would be created outside their project. Now, Greene Township is attempting to correct the mess, THEY DID NOT WANT. So please do not go blaming an outside interest that was created by money talking greed goverment.
And while I'm rolling, who the heck built Norland Avenue? It is an absolute disgrace for a street to be in this condition. The street from Fifth to the first traffic at Summit Health has got to be one of the roughest sections of road in the county.

If they make Kohler to Walker a "right turn only", that is really going to make me angry.

They should have left the original Walker Road bridge open for this very reason. They should have anticipated the need for a signal at this intersection by studying the traffic patterns already well established in that area.

Some of the roads around here have really become an embarrassment to our community.

A light is needed at Walker/Kohler Road now. It was identified by the Township's consultants years ago when they created their current impact fee structure.
