Did your town decide to hire only the most vicious, nasty, rude police officers in the country?

I've never met such a pack of nasty jerks in my life. And that's just from me asking directions once as an agency aide for one of your seniors. You'd think they assumed I was on my way to rob the woman.

I'm not the only person who thinks your police department treats EVERYONE like scum.

I have been stopped several times over the past two years I've lived in Chittenango just walking to work. Not that I mind talking to cops, but if I'm walking to work at 4 a.m. I don't feel like being questioned about who I am or where I'm going. You'd think after awhile they'd realize that I'm just walking to work. Others that walk to work t th esame time have been stopped as well. I beilieve there's a difference between To serve and protect, and lets harass a local cause we're bored.

I have lived in several towns over the cousre of my adult life across Upstate NY. The Chittenango police force is by far the least friendly and most overstaffed I've seen. That to me translates as a lot ofg arrogance in a little space... Why pay taxes on unnecessary expenses. If you want them to treat the public better, bust them down to driving small engine economy cars instead of these larg police cruisers.... When was the last time there was a high speed chase in Chittenango? Save the taxpayers some cash and make cuts to the tax spenders. Give the money back to th epeople who earn it...

What a bunch of losers! all you have to do is complain about the Chittenango Police doing their jobs? You sound like the type to complain if there was more crime in Chittenango and they were drinking coffee and donuts at the local diner. THINK ABOUT IT. They are protecting the village. They are probably a little "rude" to YOU because you look like scum, act like scum and treat the police like they have no right to question YOU!!!! at 4 a.m. or anytime ---

...correction: eating donuts.
seventurns: how were they vicious--did they bite your leg? Maybe you approached them with an attitude and didn't treat the officer or officers with respect and you didn't get the respect back! Maybe you were driving poorly and they were worried about drunk driving or some health issue. You sound like a jerk and you are probably mean to the seniors you "take care of". just sayin.....

To serve and protect.... The towns officials' interests... Screw the tax payers... Lets ticket the shit out of them so cops can ride around in $80,000 vehicles... Gimme a break "Whiner about whiners" If you want to justify assholes being assholes, your right up your ally.. MAYBE they just pull you over for bullshit because they need to hit their QUOTA to keep the town officials getting fat paychecks And its nice to know that just because someone looks a certain way it gives POWER TRIP cops a right to stereotype.. But your probably right and its our fault because they became cops to push people around because they got caught beating off to superman comics in the school locker room, and now they want revenge on all society who have jobs and are trying to skim by on shitty paychecks and unemployment. But have to cut spending on their kids because they got pulled over for "obstruction of view" at 3am for an easy pass that someone couldn't see in their own damn vehicle. Let alone how could a cop see the damn thing in the dark going 55 miles an hour in the opposite direction. If cops wanted to help out society they should have enlisted in the military and went to bite some bullets, instead of picking on some poor guy walking to work at 3am wearing scruffy work cloths... Yeah THAT'S the guy you gotta watch out for. Why don't you go punch a baby in the face "Sick of Whiners"

Loco resident: have you considered the fact that there are dangerous people out there and the police are risking their lives to serve and protect? Who's to say they are "powertripping" when they are anxious or nervous and aren't friendly to everyone? And why would you suggest I punch a baby in the face -- you are crazy. Feel sorry for you -- sounds like you've had some run-ins that have left you very angry. Poor, poor sap.

The police work for YOU. Don't ever forget that. They are SERVANTS of the COMMUNITY. There is no excuse for a police officer to be rude to a citizen, ANY citizen. Even a citizen who is breaking the law. That is not part of their job. A police officer should conduct themself with dignity and honor, regardless of how the poeple around them are acting. I would never chose to have someone enforcing the laws of my community who is not mature and intelligent enough to understand that. And as a member of your community you shouldn't either.

Getting the police smaller police cars will not save you money. They extra equipment and all the driving actualy make the smaller vehicles cost more in repairs and fuel. Just ask any police dept that has done this. I dont know the village police so I cant say that they are or are not rude.
Getting rid of the village police will not save you money and you will lose any services you have. The madison county sheriff had 1 patrol car working the other night. So if you dont mind waiting 30-45 min for the police to come then go head and get rid of them. The state police will not take some types of calls (at least in Onondaga County) so dont count on them to come at 3am for the barking dog because they arnt comming. If you have a real complaint then contact the police dept or the village board, dont post on the internet, its not getting anything done.
Also if someone is walking around my neighborhood at 4 am I would like to have the police see what they are up to. thats what we pay them for. I expect the police to stop me when im out at that hour and because of that im ready to be polite to them and tell them what im up to. Iv never had a problem.

I asked them for directions. That's all. They were rude. Incredibly rude. I did nothing wrong. And I've been a CNA and hospice aide for 11 years. There was no excuse for the officers' behavior. This isn't the Bronx.

I have never heard such a load of crap in my life. The department is not over staffed. They have about 3 full time officers left and the rest are part time who work a day or two a month. Every time I have spoken to one of the cops they have been very polite. Maybe if Chitt didnt have so many dirt bags living there they wouldnt be so interested in what your doing at 4 am. Good Job Chitt PD, the ones who complain are the ones who are up to no good

Sick of whiners sounds like one of these jerk cops just afraid the chittenango residents are gonna wise up and he is going to loose his job. My grandfather has lived in this town for 30 years and never received a ticket and he can't stand the police and refuses to even buy a car at sun chevy because of that d bag caputo (or whoever its spelled) and his gift for ticketing every car that drives by. I can tell u I for 1 will continue to push to get rid of the police force in nango

...not a cop at all, but have a brother on the force who is not afraid of "loosing" his job. And, just like you, I am entitled to my own opinion. thank you very much. If your grandfather lived there for 30 years, he never drove by Sun Chevy? Because if he did he'd have been ticketed "every time" right? And, according to the original post, even if he walked around in Chittenango, they probably harassed the crap out of him, right?

Police cannot continually harrass a person who they know is walking to work at an odd hour compared to everyone else. In a small village like Chittenango you are able as a good LE officer to remember your local population and know who's who. It is also within EVERYONE's right as a citizen of NYS and of the U.S. to not have to explain their actions -- walking down a street, for example -- over and over again to police. Even twice is too much. There is such a thing as a third shift of employees in many communities around here. They might be outside at 4am for coffee breaks, take a quick walk. What, they'll be "questioned?" Our laws protect innocent people and allow them to go about their business in peace, and if a police officer doesn't pass it on to his (very few) co-workers that "there's this person who walks to/from work at 4 a.m., no problem" that office should be discharged. "Unreasonable search and seizure" can also apply when a person is repeatedly stopped and questioned for doing what they usually do on all work nights.

The point is that it's a known fact that some local police forces have rude officers who have poor community relations skills and seem to resent the fact that they're stuck in a small towns with very low crime rates. They need to be re-trained to understand that a grown adult can walk down the street at 4:00 a.m. with a very, very reasonable expectation that he/she will NEVER be stopped and questioned by police.

THAT is the law.

all cops have big cars,,not just the small towns,,,and people must remeber the cops have to deal with 100's of strangers a day begging to let them go or give them a warning. It would frustrate anyone that had to tell 100 law breakers a day , NO sorry but i dint make you brake the law,I just caught you breaking it, Heres your ticket go cry some where else please and have a nice day.
