This is going to be a fun thread!

Gore just held a rally (asking people to bike or take transportation to it), and someone did a great YouTube video of his entourage.....

See it at http://www.americansforprosperity.org/index.p...

It's TOO FUNNY!

Can a Nobel Prize be revoked?

That's the height of hypocrisy, but you have to smile when you see the whole thing - especially the ending!

OK, you people trust Snopes to debunk urban myths, right?
Check out how Gore's personal energy conservation compares to George Bush's:

And more bad news for Al.
In a press release today, The American Physical Society, which represents nearly 50,000 physicists, announced it has reversed its stance on climate change and now says that many of its members no not believe in human-induced global warming.
Will this be in the news, as all the global warming propaganda is?

I believe global warming as Gore has described it, is a tactic to put fear in people to bring about changes he would like to see take place. I do not keep up with Gore because I do think he is hypocritical so I am a little out of the loop anymore on exactly what he wants. I do think we should try to be "greener" when possible but not for the sake of global warming.

Global warming, unlike what Gore claims, is factual. It is a part of the earth's cycle and can be researched all over the internet. I do believe people do have a some impact on it but not to the extent presented by Gore. Since it is part of the earth's cycle, we can do little to change that.

There's an amazing interview on YouTube with Vaclav Klaus, the President of the Czech Republic.
He shuns political correctness to speak his mind!

Transcript:

Klaus: Global warming is a false myth and every serious person and scientist says so. It is not fair to refer to the U.N. panel. IPCC is not a scientific institution: it's a political body, a sort of non-government organization of green flavor. It's neither a forum of neutral scientists nor a balanced group of scientists. These people are politicized scientists who arrive there with a one-sided opinion and a one-sided assignment.
Also, it's an undignified slapstick that people don't wait for the full report in May 2007 but instead respond, in such a serious way, to the summary for policymakers where all the "but's" are scratched, removed, and replaced by oversimplified theses. This is clearly such an incredible failure of so many people, from journalists to politicians. If the European Commission is instantly going to buy such a trick, we have another very good reason to think that the countries themselves, not the Commission, should be deciding about similar issues."

Interviewer:“How do you explain that there is no other comparably senior statesman in Europe who would advocate this viewpoint? No one else has such strong opinions...”

Klaus:“My opinions about this issue simply are strong. Other top-level politicians do not express their global warming doubts because a whip of political correctness strangles their voice.”

Interviewer: "Don't you believe that we're ruining our planet?"

Klaus: "Perhaps only Mr Al Gore may be saying something along these lines: a sane person can't. I don't see any ruining of the planet, I have never seen it, and I don't think that a reasonable and serious person could say such a thing. Look: you represent the economic media so I expect a certain economical erudition from you. My book will answer these questions. For example, we know that there exists a huge correlation between the care we give to the environment on one side and the wealth and technological prowess on the other side. It's clear that the poorer the society is, the more brutally it behaves with respect to Nature, and vice versa.• It's also true that there exist social systems that are damaging Nature - by eliminating private ownership and similar things - much more than the freer societies. These tendencies become important in the long run. They unambiguously imply that today, on February 8th, 2007, Nature is protected uncomparably more than on February 8th ten years ago or fifty years ago or one hundred years ago."

Here are some useful links:

The reason why global warming has only recently become a problem

Although I agree we should live greener lives I don't buy into the all the global warming propaganda. We are not the only planet that is warming. Perhaps the earth is going through a natural cycle and that this man made global warming propaganda is just another excuse to tax us. If governments were so concerned with global warming they wouldn't do something as stupid as tax us poor folk. They would mandate these big corporations to change. They would encourage electric cars and wind power and Al Gore would make his own home more energy efficient and ride an electric scooter.

Nubsnovets, I haven't checked out the other sites you listed but the 30,000 petition one is questionable. I posted it on another site and stated I hadn't checked it out so someone else did. Apparently, there were names duplicated on it and the lack of info about each was questioned. Seems like there was something else questionable about it, will have to look up the topic when I have time. I agree with you though, I think it is pretty much propaganda.

Totally agree with you on this!!!I sure wish we could take back the Nobel Peace Prize. But you know there were others who should never have received it.

Well, I haven't seen this list so I can't say for sure. But I did listen to one of these scientists being interviewed who coroberated this story. I will also look for more information that confirms the number of scientists. The problem is there is so much misinformation put out there intentionally it is hard to tell what's true or not anymore. But it is at least true there are quite a few scientists that do not agree that global warming is man made. But then again, when did scientists ever agree on anything.

Ok...So Global Warming or not everyone should do their best to be efficient in whatever they do. I believe part of the "oil problem" that exist today is due to the fact that the most popular type o vehicle in the U.S. for the past decade has been the SUV. While many people do have great use for these SUV's, most people just drive them becaus they like the feeling of being higher off the road or for various other reason. When a majority of people are driving vehicle that only get 15-20 mpg, of course there is going to be an oil shortage or at least a large strain on demand.
The United States waste more food an produce on average than many countries even consume. Sure there is not a whole to do about rotten food or leftovers that don't get eatin. But being more efficient equals saving more money, making more proffit for businesses, and having excess supplies or a surplus.

Whether Global warming is a fact or not, everyone should be more efficient. I feel Global warming is true, but I'm not sure it is cause by human activity alone. The earth has a large homeostatic power and can easily return itself to a stable state without any help from humans. So, the warming is probably a normal climate change or shift that tends to happen over time. We just have to justify everything in terms that are familiar with our way of thinking.

I pretty well agree with you.We need to conserve, find ways not to pollute and find alternate, renewable energy.I can remember when in the 60's or 70's that scientists said we were heading toward an ice age now they say we are heating up.I think it is the normal ebb and flow of climate change.

I think most people here would agree with that. I don't think that global warming is man made but I do try to be greener. I try to use natural products because they are healthier for me and for the environment. Those that are the guiltiest are the major corporations. China is really bad with this. They dump all kinds of stuff in the sea. I think our pollution affects the planet, especially the wildlife. This is what needs to change, not a carbon tax on the average citizen.

Exactly.
Intelligent people are all coming to this conclusion.
The President of the Czech Republic has repeatedly asked Gore to debate him on this subject for the last two years, but Gore refuses to. The Czech President lived under Soviet rule and Marxism, and he says that Gore's plans would put American under the same yoke. He's very intelligent logical, and he doesn't have any politically correct agenda. Wish he would get some fair press in the US. He was here last week to address the issue.
