Tea Party Group Banned from Nation's Oldest Parade WHJJ News Passing out U.S. Constitutions on July 4th gets group tossed from annual celebration. The Rhode Island Tea Party group says that it has banned from future Bristol 4th of July Parades. Last Saturday's parade, which is the oldest in the country at 224 years, had included a float representing the taxpayer group, which has recently been organizing "Tea Party" type political rallys. Tea Party spokesperson Marina Peterson says she was contacted by a parade committe member on Wednesday and was told "It is because some members of the RI Tea Party passed out U.S. Constitutions to the crowd. Apparently passing out the US Constitution on Independence Day is an egregious violation of parade rules. This is despite the fact that other floats passed out solicitations for their businesses, which is against the Parade guidelines, and these businesses have NOT been told that they are banned from participating in the future." Calls to parade committee member Jim Tavares were not immediately returned. http://www.920whjj.com/cc-common/news/section...

Title of this article is distortion - this group violarted parade safety rules by handing out their fliers from their float. It has nothing to do with liberal or conservative - they could've been handing out candy and it would still be a safety violation.

Other groups were allowed to hand out fliers from their floats and were not banned from the parade. "Truth", if you are going to lie, at least try and do a better job of it. Ask Mojo and Honest Abe for some pointers.

No, I'm giving an eyewitness account. Other groups were not on floats or in moving vehicles - i.e. politicians on foot handing out material to the crowds. I live in Bristol, and I was at the parade, and I watched them do it. If these guys wanted to hand out anything they should not have been using a float or even a car.

Read the story moron. They admitted they allowed other floats to hand out literature and nothing was done to them.

Read it yourself...it was the Tea Party spokeswoman who stated that other floats had passed out flyers. Stop trying so hard to make something out of nothing. And by the way, the replies to your posts seem to be slipping - too bad, so sad. The word assocation thread and Cranky Frankie's are so much more popular, lol. Have you missed me??

Actually from what I hear around town these folks weren't the only group to receive a ban for breaking parade rules, but they were the only ones to continue to break the no-handout rule AFTER they were warned AND they solicited donations (unknowingly to a committee member) which is why their ban is permanent and the others are temporary. And by the way Mr. Crab, since you don't believe that I live here I'll make you this offer - if you want to come up to Bristol sometime for the parade, I'll be glad to host you. Besides, lodging in town is a bit tough to find leading up to the holiday.

If you know different you need to contact the newspapers and outlets that reported on this case and tell them different. Funny how your IP matches a certain person from Gainesboro, Tn. LOL!! Busted again.

We have all been duped. found a link.....not nearly as communist as some might hope.... "The Rhode Island Tea Party fanned protest throughout Rhode Island after Bristol parade organizers confiscated the group’s parade-day flyers and told the Tea Party it is not welcome back next year. Parade organizers say they simply enforced the rules that govern all parade participants — no distribution of materials from floats or marchers in the parade. They say the Tea Party float participants were told the rules ahead of time, were warned not to do it, but went ahead and did it anyway. Said parade chairwoman Judy Squires,“Their float was very well done, very tastefully done. We don’t have a problem with the Tea Party at all. The only issue is they were told not to distribute the flyers, and they violated the rules. We would have been upset with any float that did the same thing.” Ms. Squires said the rules exist entirely for the safety of everyone, marchers and spectators. She said it’s dangerous for marchers or float participants to distribute flyers, throw candy, or even hand out copies of the U.S. Constitution, because those actions invite spectators into the street with the moving vehicles. She cited a tragic accident last year in the Tampa Bay, Fla., area, when a 9-year-old boy became entangled in the wheel of a passing float and was killed at a parade." http://www.eastbayri.com/detail/129928.htm And here is the "other guys" who weren't with them passing things out with them.

Your reliable news sources are usually the ones that print what you want to agree with. And I don't ramble, lie or change my user name. See you at the tru test next month, along with several of your "admirers".

TKD, Posting the truth to Laughing is a wasted effort. They know they are a liar and clueless but they feel the need to destroy their credibilityusto try and convince others they know what they are talking about. Hang around and watch their miserable attempts to jsutify their wasted lives on this forum.
