LCB, no, I did not go to the press. I always thought that if a problem could not be addressed through legitimate channels, than it could not be solved. I might have erred in that thought. It was not the road in front of my property not being gravelled, that happened after a verbal altercation that occured when he came to my house over fixing the public road that was falling into a ditch. If you would care to look at the other posts on the same subject on Topix, that would bring you up to speed of what occured, of course using my name of Rancher. I am lucky to have my own equipment and thinking "to heck with this", I fixed all the problems after at least one year had gone by. I had no choice, as the turn onto my road was collasping into the ditch. My neighbors were all familiar with the situation so I'm not one nut job with an ax to grind. If it did not happen directly to me, I would have a difficult time thinking there was not some stretching of the facts, but there is not. After our argument (and yes, when he started yelling abuses at me I did become angry but never swore or threatened him) he let it be known to me in no uncertain terms no work would be done to fix the problem with the road (not a private road but a county owned road).

Scrap (or junk) has been, for the past few years, very lucrative as China has been buying it all and driving the price way, way up. I know, we made money from it but it was hard work cutting it up, unless you just loaded up the big pieces. The bigger pieces bring a lower price but still, it brings a good price. Yes, it is an eyesore, and that's why you are not seeing it like you did years ago. I don't know what scrap was going for when he came into office, I do know what scrap has been going for in the past few years and we made thousands. And, if you are working for the county and you sell county material, such as say...SCRAP, the money is the county's and pocketing it is stealing. He had to haul it off because it was an eyesore? That is not a defence for stealing.
