This is a dispute that appears to be spinning out of control and presents a big headache for this country. Democrat or Republican I suggest you read this, I do not see any good comming out of it for the USA.Both nations have deployed warships to the area.

The US has a defense treaty with Japan. However it is not clear from what I have found if it applies in a case like this,Leon Panneta is trying to mediate it at this point. He is not having a lot of luck. Kind of shows that we are taken that serious anymore by either side since owe both a lot of money and buy most of our goods from both countries and Japan has several auto plants in the US.

The middle east is on fire and ready to explode. Then add to it,the japan,China issue..Not good.I have been following this for a few days, and right now Japan does not have a chance if it comes to blows.Do not see how Obama can turn the heat down on this unless maybe he will do the same thing to them that he has done to Israel..Not good.

I think what this is going to do is make Japan go Nuke.It might already have nukes. They have the technology and know how. I would not be surprised if they did not have something. Over a 100 tactical nukes disappeared from the Russian Inventory several years ago and were never accounted for,I doubt they lost them or gave them away.

The other thing to consider is all of China`s heavy industry is located on the mainland, Japan`s is around the world in different countries. A lot in the US.

This is definately a volitle situation and will be a real test for the Obama Foreign Policy Team.

I do not see the US as having anything to gain from any of this but a lot to lose.

It is getting worse..

More Japanese factories and businesses in China shuttered Tuesday as an East China Sea island dispute threatens to drag relations between Asia's two largest economies to their lowest point since World War II.

They don`t have much. At the end of World War II we agreed to defend them and they would not build a large military. They have a small air force for self defense but have air craft stationed there and of aircraft carriers in the area. This is a bad deal for the US.

The tensions continue to mount and it has broader implications for repercussions. China also has territorial disputes with Vietnam and the Philippines. The US has defense treaties with Japan and the PI.Oil and fishing rights are at the bottom of all this and it is not going away.

If it appears to Japan that the US is going to leave them hanging out they will likely rearm and go nuclear. They can do this rather quickly. They have the technology and know how all they need is a motivation.

Now we have the Middle East in an uproar and this dispute that has been building up for a while plus a French Cartoon Magazine is going to run some pictures of The Prophet today that is likely to fire up the Muslims some more.

The US is the loser in all of this at a time when we got more on our plate than we can digest.

I have still not seenmuch about this in the US News. However here is what sec Defense has to say. He say we could get drawn into it one way or anoter. Kind of like saying if you stick your head in the Pacific Ocean you might tast salt water.

I just wish we had someone competent in the White House to deal with it. Also the Mid-East situation. John Bolton would make a fine secretary of state for Mitt Romney.

Sec. Defense Panetta plays down this dispute However i believe wishing it will go away is wishful thinking. I do now believe or think that we will sean immediate war over this in the not too distant future we just might. China and Japan have old feuds that go way back. They are now competitors in the world market, both are competing in the US Market and other Pacific Nations. The area in dispute is rich in fishing and there is said to be billions of barrels of oil under the ocean in this area.

I remember a conversation with two Japanese American Officers years ago when I was stationed in Korea. Both were from Hawaii and both spoke fluent Japanese and and had family roots in Japan, their wives were from Japan. We discussed World War II and I got their perspective on it and it was different than any I had ever heard. According to their version, the Chinese got to the US before the Japanese and got established in business and politics. They bought American Politicians donated to US institutions and built up a relationship with Americans before the Japanese got here. When Japan tried to breakout and do the same the Chinese in the US put the bad word on them and turned Americans against them. Therefore the US sided with China and that is why they lost the war. They intended to correct that so that in a future conflict with China they would have American support and a free hand to deal with the Chinese.

I found this interesting because Japan now has several plants in the US ,employs thousands of American workers in a number of states. I don`t kn ow of any major Chinese plants in the US. Also there are a lot of Japanese Americans in the USAF and USN.

Americans are not complaining about US Jobs going to Japan but they are about them going to China.Japan is looking at expanding plants in the US.. I don`t see any real evidence that China is doing anything like this, instead US Plants are moving to China.

In the years since this conversation with the two Japanese American Officers , I have discussed this with a number of Japanese Americans, they all seemed to have a similar version and it was their intent tom prove they were good loyal Americans and that Japan was a good American friend and that China was not really to be trusted.

I am watching to see hiow this plays out but I see us eventually being dragged into any future dispute with these two powers . I aslo believe Japan is about to change their status as a military power. They understand American a lot better than we understand them.

A refresher, Cordell Hull from Pal Mall was the Sec State when World War II started. He had a dim view of the Japanese.

US Offical says the mutual defense treaty between Japan nd the US covers the defense of these Islands. That means we are obligated by treaty to defend Japans claims to these islands.

Don`t shoot me I am just posting the information. If anything this shows we got treaties that I bet most Americans have no idea exist.

It could be.i don`t believe Japan would push this to this point if they did not have a trick up their sleeve. Not like them to start something without some angle. They appear to be out gunned in every catagory.

This issue has become more complex as Taiwan is moving vessels into the disputed area to claim it`s right to these island.Taiwan has a larger miitary than Japan and also has a treaty with the US. They claim to be the rightful rulers of China. This could get out of control quick. Taiwan and Japan have had good relations in the past.

The US has all it can deal with in the Middle East at this time, how can we hope to be a player in this new game? I don`t see anything good comming to the US over this but I see us mixed up in it.

This video will give you more insight into what is going on. There is a commercial first about two minuets.
