Bledsoe county jail, nely built, cost 7.4 million dollare, 96 bds, as of mar. 15 had 43 inmates. Currently no women, built to house 24 women, do not have all the "kinks" out. Bledsoe State Prison, built to hold 1444 inmates, cost $144,000,000.00, completed 2012, open 2013, approx. 500 new jobs. Difference between a county jail and a state prison. Use common sense, why would a county build a jail to hold 1444 inmates and tne project cost $144,000,000.00 ?????????

The bledsoe prison was built to replace another building, so they will not be able to house 1444 new prisoners maybe only about 300 from all over the state.

The expansion is over 1400 new beds, there are no more men's prisons closing in the state of tennessee at this time, taft closed but it was a juvenile facility. we are being told after the new part opens that taft will become a women's prison since there is not one in east tennessee, the only women's prison's are in nashville and memphis
