9 months a year? 7 hours a day? You are an idiot! Teachers work 10 months plus thru the summer receiving training. Teachers stay after school, take work home with them, complete hours and hours of online training, and spend hundreds of dollars on their students. They don't receive raises when other state employees do. If teachers got paid by the hour, they wouldn't make minimum wage. You can get on here and bash SFES all you want, but if your child is so "behind" maybe it's because of a "shallow gene pool" instead of the education he/she is receiving.
I suppose every one of the kids are behind because of shallow gene pool??? NOT!Hundreds of dollars??? It sounds as if u are the true IDIOT???

Not all of you are morons. Just you & a couple of others. Teachers attend training sessions most of the month of July (no 2 1/2 month summer). They complete hours & hours of online training after school hours during the school year. They work ballgames & fall festivals. They buy their students school supplies, Christmas presents, snacks, etc. They care about the students even when the parents are online bad mouthing the school. Teachers do these things hoping that the students will overcome their living situations & be better people than their parents.
And no I'm not a teacher, but I have a family member that teaches at SFES.
And why are they working ball games and festivals? I guess the focus is off teaching. Since when do we as tax payers have to pony up for their time doing this? Teachers get money to buy the school supplies, parents pay for much of that stuff. Parents also buy teachers Christmas presents. Online training,,really? I know for sure that they don't do that as much as you state..Your trying to BS peopple on here and I won't have it.

The school is failing....If all these teachers do all this stuff and still can't get it right then I guess we need to fire many of them. You can lead a horse to water...

This thread just proves how ignorant and uneducated Fentress County PARENTS are. Maybe if you all would put forth the effort that your children's education requires of you instead of coming on a website and posting useless garbage, you wouldn't have to depend on the teachers in our county to do all the work. My children go to SFE and CHS, and I would almost guarantee that they're smarter than the majority of idiots that have posted on here. As for our teachers, I think they do a fine job given the circumstances (and parents) surrounding them.
LMAO,Clarkrange mom ia a teacher, bet she has a kid attending school where she teaches! Is funny how defensive she is,lol, guess the truth cuts deep.SFE teachers are horrible, look at the test scores.

Teachers have a hard job! They are underpaid! Put up with some of these parents that think their child does nothing wrong!!! I know there are some bad teachers but you guys have no clue the amount of work they do away from school! Lesson plans also spending personal money to show your kids activities to help them learn!! Show them some respect at least some of them are good!!!!
The person that started this thread is probably a 'problem parent' that wants to make the school look bad because they are pissed at a couple of teachers that might have children attending. You know it not like it is against the rules to teach where your child attends
(the last I checked it wasn't). Why else would they try to pull 'all teachers' down? Sounds like somebody has a personal problem maybe like jealousy? There is always two sides to a story. So type on teachers!

Well it looks like a few upset parents. They did send out letters that stated the school is not at the level it needs to be.If you are in the school very much, you will see alot.I am not a jelous parent.I am a parent that is upset because these kids are not on the grade level they should be.They are horribly unorganized

Stand up for your kids, or neighbors kids..Because the teachers, and county school system is standing up for their employment.
King Frank wont help..How about gary peters, NOT..Maybe Phil..Yea right...Mike ? If it means more pay, maybe.
The tax payers pays for the school system, its time for it to be held accountable.
People thats YOUR right...And the teachers, and its employees say"why wont you get involved' and when you do...They slam you and your opinions, as worthless.

<quoted text>I could go on and on but it's useless. My response to you is that unless u have a 9th grade student that does not no how to add and subtract and as a parent has been told over and over not to worry that they can use a calculater then u dont no what its like being a parent that does care. Some people will take up 4 anything
If you have a 9th grade student who is not able to add and subtract, why have you as a parent not taught him/her those skills yourself? Did you ask to have your child repeat a grade when you became aware of the problem? I would be ashamed to blame others, if I let my child get to 9th grade without basic everyday math skills. Parents are the first and most important teachers, so quit blaming others.

If I was YOU...I would be ashamed at making such a 'complete and utter' dispicable statement, such as this...WHAT THE HECK ARE THE TEACHERS DOING AT THE SCHOOL, THEN !!!!
Why are YOU so stupid...Yes, I said STUPID..YOU BE.. Will obviously ..ALWAYS BE !!!
Does the parent have the state license to teach ?
Does the parent get 'well paid' to teach ?
Does the parent get'first dibbs' for employement for their family & friends ?
No, you arent stupid...You are, what has become of the goodness, that WAS, and is fleeting, from fentress county schools.
P.S. I pray in ALL my heart..YOU are knowhere around kids...

Your right. Whenever we demand that people do they jobs they make excuses and blame others. Now all the sudden it's my job to support the teachers finacially and educate my children. I would love to stay home and home school instead of working but that is not possible. I do my job..why can't they do theirs.

The county should give parents that home school the cost of having that child in public school in a check every month. Maybe when the FCSB feels their pocket books are a little lighter, they will get the point.

How will the FCSB feel their pocket books lighter? Thinking I know what you mean and thinking it's not gonna happen but do you know something we don't know?

Teachers work ballgames & festivals because THEY ARE REQUIRED TO...I'm sure that your job doesn't require you to work off the clock, take work home with you, and buy supplies out of your pocket. Teachers get some classroom money to spend on supplies, but it is used for instructional materials (I know you probably don't know what that means.) You as a parent buy your child's basic school supplies & that's your job as a parent. My bet is that you "pony up" and pay for very little.
Instead of staying on here bad mouthing & judging, why don't you help your kids with their homework?

As a parent I know that the whole Fentress system needs shut down and replaced.I am talking about from mike right on down to the bus drivers
I am in agreement with needing to replace quite a few within the school system. But there ARE folks who live in Fentress County who ARE good bus drivers, who love the kids and have good track records who have fallen victim and are not allowed to drive anymore. The school system does not think about the welfare of the kids, only themselves & their beliefs.

I think you are on the wrong track. The school board should be held accountable, not the county commissioners. The principals and school board do the hiring sometimes with the director's input.
