Sportscaster Bob Costas uses halftime to advocate for gun control and angers viewers
Costas summarized a recent column in favor of gun control during a Sunday night football game and said that if Jovan Belcher hadn't possessed a firearm, he and his wife would both be alive today

Reactions online came fast and furious with many viewers criticizing Costas for his remarks

Did the pressure of the game make him snap? Murder-suicide football player Jovan Belcher struggled with head injuries, drink, and painkillers before killing his girlfriend

Friends now say Kansas City Chief Jovan Belcher's mental state may have been deteriorated due to a history of head injuries, pain killers, and alcohol abuse. A person claiming to be close to Belcher has revealed in a series of e-mails that these issues as well as long-term domestic problems between himself and his girlfriend may have led Belcher to the murder-suicide he committed Saturday morning.

he might've still acted out if he hadn't had a gun. but it certainly would've been harder for him to actually kill himself and his girlfriend without it :/

i mean...if it was his gun, he had a license for it and all, he didn't have a criminal record...i don't know much about the player, but if he was legally allowed to have a gun and it was his gun he used, then...what could you do?

Typical knee jerk liberal Democrat reaction. One person loses it and murders their girlfriend then commits suicide and suddenly NBC has to get all political and call for extreme changes to gun ownership laws.

It's interesting to note that none of the other 1,600 NFL players currently in the NFL killed anyone on Saturday when this happened.

It's even more interesting to note that the other 80 million gun owners in the U.S. didn't kill anyone on Saturday when this happened.

"But, but, but..."

Again, 1 person shot and murdered their girlfriend and then drove to the Kansas City Chiefs facility and shot himself.

The other 80 million gun owners in the U.S. did not.

geez, dude...one post at a time, please. take a little time to compose your thoughts and compress them into a single post. you could've easily fit all of those into one single post.

i myself am guilty of making a double-post every now and then, when i think of a point i wanted to make shortly after i make a post. but...four in a row? and they're all very short and making the same basic point? that's a little absurd, don't you think?

just...take your time in the future. figure out your thoughts. nothing you said is so important that it couldn't have waited five more minutes for you to fully suss it out.

People ...in general ...pay more attention...to shorter posts.

(They will read all of 3 separate short posts, but will only skim over 1 long post)

Maybe Bob Costas should blame football for it..With all the head injuries, and concussions that go on in football, maybe he should advocate for abolishing football totally..

Let's see, if Hank Jr had to go from Monday Night Football for making a political statement ....

....shouldn't Bob Costas have to go from NBC's Sunday Night Football for doing the same?

Here's a guy who makes big money telling us how men get millions to give each other concussions. If Belcher would have hung himself, Costas would blame the rope. What an ignorant putz. He is past his prime, he needs to go.

Excellent point. I wonder if anyone has a petition made up yet to flood NBC with demands for Bob Costas to be fired?

Me liberal
Me only complain if a conservative political statement is made

Me turn a blind eye when a liberal political statement is made

Me and fellow liberals very inconsistent like that

of course a liberal isn't going to complain when somebody makes a statement that they agree with.

bob costas is more integral to the programming than hank jr was, and his expressed viewpoint was less incendiary. he probably won't be fired.
