What a huge waste of money. They should take all the train station money and use it to fix the cow paths they call streets in this city. It's like a Wii driving game where you drive down the street trying to avoid potholes.

The train station is probably part of the Stimulus Package. Here are some other great (?) expenditures on the Stimulus Package.
-$30 million for a spring training baseball complex for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies.
-$462,000 to purchase 22 concrete toilets for use in the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri
-$983,952 for street beautification in Ann Arbor, Mich., including decorative lighting, trees, benches and bike paths.

All of which created some jobs, albeit probably temporary jobs, but jobs nonetheless. These jobs paid people and that money went into the economy in the hopes of helping to stimulate the economy.
Of course I would have liked him to give me 1 trillion dollars, I'm sure I'd find something to spend all that on.

The train station is not getting any stimulus package money. The PJ just did an article on it not too long ago. http://www.post-journal.com/page/content.deta...

Come on people we need the train station and it's state/federal funding. How else are we going to pay the DOD salaries?

... except that the money going to the train station project isn't paying any salaries for Department of Development personnel. Try again.

The train station is a classic example of pork barrel spending that we don't need. In a time of a poor economy and taxpayers stretched past their limits, our tax dollars should go towards the basic needs of communities. Spending millions of dollars on an old train station that has already been stripped of all its beautiful marble and fancy lighting is a waste. They can never RESTORE the station unless they spend 500% more. Most property taxpayers will tell you they don't want their taxes to go up and that all they want are good streets, fire and police protection, snow plowing and sanitation. Period.

It's not tax dollars, it's grant money that comes from money made through investments, not public money.

It would be cool if they put a Sandees Bakery inside there.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Aquarius

Someone is being bombastic and overbearing, and you don't like it. You aren't prepared to take their behavior lying down, but standing up to them is likely to result in a rip-roaring row. Well, it seems that the row is almost inevitable, and perhaps that's just as well because it won't do you any good to swallow your anger or tolerate this person's boorishness for much longer.
