Just wondering what ties Jaysean has with Hazard and Perry County. Kinda odd for a kid from NY to move to Eastern Kentucky.

Jaysean is being illegally paid, his family is receiving illegal benefits & he will never be eligible, after all that was done for him by drake & jhs he chases a few dollars & cars, his career is effectively over

No it is just beginning. Most pros had this done for them. So he is on the right Page. Get it.

That's a pretty bold statement without backing it up with facts. Why would any high school pay a kid to play b-ball? Isn't that a D1 College recruit thing?

High school coaches don't do it boosters from colleges do it to get a kid where they can control him. To say that he is going to be a pro is just so far off center. He is a good player but going pro? I hope it works out but when the kentucky high school athletic association looks into this he will not be able to play and then who is taking him? And he is a non-qualifier, he will have to go juco.

He will have to meet the KHSAA eligibility requirements which may be met if he is living with a parent in the district. I believe there may be other academic requirements as well, not sure.

I almost hesitated to open this because all the people on this website ever do is trash people who are actually doing something with their lives. You did not disappoint. I have no idea who Jaysean Paige, but I hope he makes it. If for no other reason than to remind the people of this town how little they will ever achieve.

I know for a fact PCC will make jaysean a happy and wealthy kid if he does what they say. When I was in 8th grade I got offered by many schools in the county and surrounding counties to play baseball in exchange for money passing grades. I turned it down and now I gotta work my but off to pay bills. I hope he is smarter than I was.

You can't be serious. Who offers you the money? Did they offer your parents jobs as well?

I'd like to know how much this kid costed a couple folks in Perry County that didnt have enough confidence in their own kids to beat Cordia that they had to go out of state and get them a transfer as well. I like seeing teams win with their homegrown talent. If Jaysean moved down here to better his life then thats fine but if he is getting paid to play high school ball then that is crazy.

I think the idea of him getting paid is ridiculous == as far as recruiting him, don't know but from what I have read, many teams are doing that in KY. Seems like they don't have the right values -- the percentage of those making it to D1 and the NBA are small. I just hope that if he doesn't like it and returns to J'Town, he has not jeopardized his eligibility to play.

They done it in the late 90's and 2000 well. They just offered me passing grades and an apartment cause I was from a different county. All of the schools do it in all sports the only 1 that never offered me any thing besides a good education was Hazard High School. If they want you bad enough theyll offer you pretty much anything. Plus jaysean has on his Facebook page he lives in lexington that's along way from perry county. I actually heard that he is going to uk when he gets out of highschool so who knows uk may have a hand in it as well.

People in the community offers money businesses coaches at school that had ties to someone with money. It's easily done and done all the time. The money may not necessarily change hands but the kIds would live in a house provided by someone and drive cars that look like it couldn't be theirs.

Who would seriously move to hazard for a "better life". Most people move away from hazard for a better life.

Are you saying his father just moved there? KHSAA says the entire family must move to make it look legit. If his father had been there for awhile, it looks legit.

I'm saying he's my friend on Facebook and it says jaysean lives in lexington not hazard or perry county I don't even think his parents came but not sure. When I went to PCC all I had to do was get a perry county address it didn't matter back then if your parents lived in the county I actually lived in another county and went to PCC.

Here is what KHSAA rules say:

a) BONA FIDE CHANGE IN RESIDENCE- The period of ineligibility
may be waived if there has been a bona fi de change in residence
by the parents and student that precedes a studentís change of
schools.
For purposes of this bylaw, a bonafi de change of residence
means the moving of the permanent residence of the entire
family of the student and the studentís parents from one school
district or defi ned school attendance area into another school
district or defi ned school attendance area prior to a change in
enrollment of the student. A student who becomes emancipated
does not have a bona fi de change of residence by virtue of his
or her emancipation and change of residence for purposes of
this bylaw.

More interesting:

Sec. 3) Specifi c Restrictions Resulting in Denial of Waiver
Satisfying of one of the exceptions (Section 2, a through i) shall
not be considered valid and a waiver of the period of ineligibility
shall not be granted:
a) If the change in schools is to nullify or circumvent the actions of
representatives or rules of the previous school or if the student
left the sending school under penalty which would have resulted
in the studentís ineligibility at the sending school;
b) If the satisfying of one of the exceptions occurs after the
enrollment at the new school;
c) If the change in schools is motivated in whole or part by a desire
to participate in athletics at the new school;
d) If the satisfying of one of the exceptions is used or manipulated
for the purpose of gaining athletic eligibility; or
e) If the satisfying of one of the exceptions

That may be what the book says but that's not what happens in real life I'm not saying that's what he done but I don't know of anybody going to hazard for a better life that's just crazy also his Facebook info says he lives in Lexington ky 2 and a half hours away from perry county. Not unless he has a grandmother or a family member in hazard I smell money. He could have came to ky to go to uk but out of all the schools why perry central ?

So KHSAA is corrupt as well? Great. Jaysean's family is being deceived but they don't know it. Wonderful. By the way, Perry Central has never made it past the quarterfinals in the Kentucky State B-Ball Championship. They don't have divisions there -- it is literally the small school vs. large school. Sounds fair, doesn't it? That is why they stack their teams!!!! Somebody tell Jaysean's family to send him back to J'Town and finish his education.
