Yes, we've seen a bunch of drunken, obnoxious kids vandalizing a historic cemetery. 150 year old tombstones destroyed and even stolen... The residents on South Valley have tried their best to repair the damage, but they can't keep up as the silly rumors about it being haunted keep the idiots filing in. Respect the dead and this historic site, or even better, donate some $ to the cause of its preservation!

I've got to ask, all the so called haunted stories that drive from GH, how many of those people were drunk and high? Try going up there with a clear mind like i have anytime day or night and you might find it peaceful and relaxing w/o your mind playing tricks on you. I've also picked up allot of trash too that you brain whacks left during your drunkin and chemed parties there.

What percentage of people are are on a forum at 5:00 A.M. who aren't drunk or high? By your comments on here I doubt you ever have a clear mind as it always appears to be filled with HATE!

What did the person say in their post which points to hatred? I work at 6 am, I get on here @ 5 am all the time, am I filled with alcohol or drugs? Nope. By your comments I assume you're ignorant.

I think a lot of folks go there expecting to hear or see something. Most have never experienced being in the woods at night and you can hear some really strange sounds from wildlife. Being in a hollow, noise travels along ways on a clear night.

You have made many negative, mostly condescending, comments about people that you don't know, right? I meant no disrespect and am sorry if I came across rude. It was just an observation. Have a nice day!

18yrs I've lived down there and have been there numerous times I've only ever heard one thing I could not explain... However it is nice to hear that ppl care just as much as I do about preserving the cemetery. I've been there in the daylight and at night and yes it is a very peaceful place. There is a ban on how late ppl can be there now. From 8am to 5pm if your caught up there past that time you get a trespassing ticket. And yes the sheriffs and state departments are constantly watching it

Look at how many years of defacing & damage before something was done? That's somebody's resting place for god sakes, go party at a friends house. I'm sure that's why all the trees and over grown greenery was hauled away for law persoanl to see more clearly up yonder, but with budget cuts, how long will they keep partoling gods country on a prayer to catch someone after hours? I see it only being looked after is a call brings them out that way.

I have donated money to the repair and maintenance of this historical cemetery . I find it so sad, that people think it is is their right to destroy and disrespect a cemetery . Move your ghost search to Lake View Cemetery , and see how far you get! It is a hide out for punks to have their parties!! I respect and agree with your post, I hope more people would share our opinions.

Thank you, it is sad that all i basically said is don't trespass or vandalize and many here were critical! Exactly, people have to think what would happen if people were doing this in Lakeview or Sunset Cemeteries... the public outcry would be deafening. I think people assume that the people buried at Gurnsey are long forgotten, however, there are property owners in the immediate area that are direct decendants of the Irish mill workers buried there... much of that property has been in the same families for 150+ years. Also, some South Valley residents have chosen to be buried there in the last 20 years, people I knew pesonally.

I was up there in 04 and it was so sad to see how people were using it for parties and the so called Wiccan crap... I love going to places like that, because it is apart of our history. As for all of these kids going up there to find ghost and party and stuff it just shows the lack of respect that they have for the living and the dead. I just said something to my step son who was asking about Gurnsry Hollow and if it was haunted. I told him that he has no business up there and that it was not haunted. Anyone with any type of respect would not go to a cemetery and vandalize grave sites of anyone especially those of kids. These kinds if people should be ashamed of them selves and I hope someday they will know how it feels to have some stranger come and ruin a loved ones or a family members resting place.

Very well put! Anyone who goes there to party needs to stop and please let loved ones rest in peace. This is sacred ground that should only be shared with family and friends and people who truly care about those who they have lost. God bless those families whose sites have been vandalized ... My thoughts and prayers are with you.
