Does it MATTER what kind of a recruiter he was? He was just as much of a "HUMAN BEING" as YOU all are !!!!!
You ( affiliate) are right,
HE DID NOT DESERVE THIS.

I wasn't questioning his humanity. Just wondering what kind of recruiter. So, lighten up.

I went to school with Bruce. I liked Bruce. Although our paths didn't cross much in high school and I didn't hang with him after our Jefferson Junior High days, I considered him a friend.
Although I haven't been back to Jamestown in many years and it has been even longer since I saw Bruce, I'm saddened by his death. I only remember that he could listen and not be judgmental. I can't think of a single thing that Bruce ever did to hurt anyone else.
Those are amazing qualities in a 7-9th grader in those self-absorbed years. From some of the comments in this forum, it seems like others could have been better off knowing Bruce a bit better.

I'm sorry for the family and their loss......I just hope that they understand that the DA probably won't even prosecute the guilty offenders. If you think JPD are unable to catch a criminal, the ADA's for this county are a joke!! They won't even prosecute people who omit to committing felonies -- they are the true joke of the county! They don't understand elements of a crime, confessions, or how to return a phone call to a victim!!! NICE!!!!!!

i think its great that people can speak out like this we cant all expect compassion with these situations after all i think drug addiction and acholism is a self inflicted mental disorder meaning the person inflicted made that choice so how can you feel sorry for them. we all make choices and must live with them. murder is a choice and the person who commits the crime will pay for it if caught. families always suffer with these situations ,so maybe if the victem would have thought of his family befor making the wrong choices there would have been a whole lot less pain.

Just to be clear, addiction is NOT a choice! It is in fact a mental disorder. To say an addict chooses to be an addict is like saying that a person with cancer chooses to have cancer. I use this comparison because in both cases the victim and the family suffer greatly through the process. People do in fact have a right to their opinion, however, when that opinion is an uneducated one and filled with hate not only does it not help the situation but is very hurtful to the family members. Why would a total stranger want to hurt family members? Please keep in mind that for most of Bruce's life he was a very productive member of society, well educated and respected. No one would choose to go from where Bruce was in life to where his life ended.

drug addiction is a choice the first time you smoke a joint the first time you snort coke the first time you shoot crack is because you chose to dont tell me its a mental disorder you are degrading truely mental incompasitated humans who really try to cope with their disorders instead of trying to create a disorder i dont feel sorry for addicts and have absolutely no compassion for those who choose to distroy their brains. im not excusing murder by no means i hope they catch the killer and deal with him to the max but being an addict or not has no baring on why the murder was commited. murder is a choice just as drug addiction is a choice.

http://allpsych.com/disorders/substance/subst... . Please go to this website, it is the DSM, which is used by psychiatrists to diagnose mental disorders. This will show you that addition is a mental disorder not a choice. I'm truly sorry you do not have compassion for people with mental disorders, and I hope that no one you are close to has to suffer from a disorder. But, it is common knowledge that addition is a mental disorder, and only about 10% of people with this disorder are able to recover.

Thank you, all who knew Bruce and have posted kind words of condolence. I know the people who worked with Bruce knew that, before his downhill slide, what a hard worker he was and how really good at his job he was. He was truly talented! Bruce was able to listen without being judgmental this was another attribute that made him as good a recruiter as he was. Bruce will be missed, and thank you all for your kind word.

Coming from someone with alcoholism and drug addiction on both sides of my family..Knowing that my chances of becoming addicted to either/or both, I CHOSE not to do either. I agree that it is a mental disorder but also a CHOICE.

I just want to say that I was at one time youth leader at a local church for Barb and Bruce. Since he youth days, I waited on Bruce a number of times at one of our local menswear stores, where I worked for 38 years. I was always happy to see Bruce, and ask what and how he was doing, and even about his family. When the news broke in the press about the fire, I was completely taken back by it all. I could not believe it was Bruce Boje who died in the fire. No one deserves to die at the hands of another person. My prayers and thoughts are with Barb and her extended family. Bruce was a great individual who cared about the other people and their feelings. Barb, if you catch this, please know that I am thinking about you. I am sorry you have to deal with some of the awful comments in this colume, but hang in there. Justice will be served some day. God Bless, love ARt

Thank you Tami,
Its good to know he had friends that cared about him. I know that it is hard to seek recovery, and maintain it. Bruce was a kind and caring person, people tend to loose site of that when someone is in the depths of their addiction. Its good to know that he was starting to seek help, and his friends were trying to help him. Again, thank you for your kind words of condolence.
I am also very sad to hear about these bad things that keep happening in Jamestown, I was born and raised in jamestown and it saddens me to hear how its went down hill, People are hurting all around the world and some dont know who to turn too and unfortunitly they turn to drugs, I relize by the postings that his family cared about him very much and I send my sympothy. from Salamanca

My heart goes out to the Boje family. I did not know Bruce but, I knew David (he used to cut my hair when he had "David of the Avenue".) To be honest, I was totally shocked when I found out he is the prime suspect. Does anyone know of a possible motive? Also, was there an obituary of Bruce Boje in the "Post Journal"? I tried searching but nothing came up.
