Harold Whitford and his partner Brenda top the list of worst landlords in Jamestown...possibly the state. Don't rent from them.

You must be the guy with all the cats who was just evicted. Next time someone is unfortunate enough to rent to you, let them in on these little snippets of info; 1) Cat shit does not bother you even if it coats the floors or sits in a heaping pile next to your bed. 2) Paying the rent on time is a major biggie. Finding you for payment is also a problem. 3) Squatting on the property is your intention as well as filling the apartment with cat shit until the stinking mass drives you elsewhere.
Does this ring any bells with you?

There a few bad landlords in the area but Harold is not one of them . He is a nice, decent, hardworking man who is trying to provide housing to people and run a business. I rented for many years before i purchased my home and I found that if you pay your rent on time,be clean and reasonably quiet, and treat your landlord with respect, they will respect you in return. He is a respectful and tolerant landlord, and I can't imagine the things he has to deal with .

First, I am not one with any animals whatsoever. Second of all I own my own home thank you. Third I know a lot of people who rent from him, and he is one of the worst of his kind. He lets certain people, as you put it, "squat". He has let several people go without paying, meanwhile for those who do pay on time, try get him or his partner to fix antything. They'll take months, maybe even years to get something fixed. Askthe fella who had his ceiling fall on him, months after he reported it looking like it was going to cave in. Ask the myriad of social workers, nursing practitioners, who know these people. Obviously you don't know of their shenanigans. Respectful? Tolerant? Provide housing? LOL. I can't imagine the pain he puts his tenants through.

I remember when my old man used to rent a place on Thayer st. in Jamestown. It used to be an o.k. place to live, well, for Jamestown I suppose. He ended up selling it to one of my good friends and was glad to be done with the whole thing because so many people wouldn't pay or did so much damage to the place. I can't recall how many times I went with him just to fix holes in the walls or other problems. Mostly it was nonpayment, and he was really cool about it. He'd stop in and have coffee or a beer and talk about it while I went off to play with their kids. He dealt with his fair share of bull but I believe that that folks who are used to f'ing people over just couldn't find it in their hearts to do it to him because he was just so cool about it. In the end most would pay in advance (probably because he'd come back with a case of beer and shoot the shit all night, lol). When I'm in the position to rent property I see no reason but to follow his lead. It's pretty simple when you're not looking for an ego boost, generally care about people, and just talk to them.

Huh? If one person is expected to be on time with their rent, why not everyone else? Sure people go through hardships, but you know what? The utilities are pretty generous too....to a point. If a person pays his or her rent on time, then he or she deserves to have the respect returned when a problem arises, not wait for months, even years for a landlord to fix something, or to clean up their yard of debris. Actually it's a right they have. Harold and Brenda have excuses for everything.

I think you've missunderstood my post, Xavier. My point was that my father practiced understanding as well as timely repair for his tenants. Basically, happy tenants made his investment worthwhile. It's unfortunate that your landlord did not follow through with his/her obligations.

oh yeah dont call brenda. we all know she never has her phone on and she will never return your calls, thats if she has any room left in her voicemail of all the calls she don't give a damn about. most of the places are rented to dirty people and are infested with roaches and all that. ive seen many of those apts before. dont much look different than when someone moved out.

Sam is just about dead. Once he is gone, I imagine someone else will take over as king of slum.....like Jack Guirrello.....

Sam long gone...but I have found a landlord/slumlord that ranks up there with the worst of them. Mary Ann Dietrick fron Rainbow Realty. I was paying 760.00/mos. for that fire trap by Sam's Club.Thank God I met her, because she forced me to buy my own home with a 600.00 mortgage. My own fleatrap...MY OWN!!!
Anyway, I was at work, and she had a crew come in and mow the lawn, trim bushes and crap like that, and when I get home, I have a bill from her for $30.00. I could have done that shyte myself when I got home. IT DIDN"T EVEN NEED MOWING! The wind blew a tree down and took part of the chimney off, and tried to charge me over $800 to get that fixed. B.S.

She can rot in hell.

i rented from palino a long time ago, i paid my rent early every month, never bothered anyone . i moved out of state left the key with the upstairs neighbor like he said to do and he said he would return my deposit to my new address. well 2 weeks later dont you know i got a bill for the exact amount of my deposit for "removal of personal property left behind" i left furniture there as i could not take it with me and he rented furnished places anyway. a year later i came back and a friend of mine lived in the same apt i had and all my old furniture was still there except she had to pay a extra 50 a month because it was furnished. so i lost my deposit of 275, and he was making 50 a month for 9 months on my furniture that had to be "removed". so he made 725 by screwing me over on my deposit.
