A Jamestown police officer has been arrested following an off-duty incident at his residence last week.

Officer Michael A. Bush on Tuesday was arrested and charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

Ellicott police on Jan. 17 were called to Baker Street Extension for a distraught male. Police said Bush was found in the home armed with a weapon threatening harm to himself.

After three hours of speaking to him, Bush allowed police to get him medical attention. Because he failed to immediately follow police, Bush was charged and was arraigned today in Ellicott Court. He was released under supervision of probation.

According to a news release by the Jamestown Police Department, Bush has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. Harry Snellings, Jamestown police chief, said the incident occurred while Bush was off-duty and outside the city.

Questions currently are being referred to Ellicott police.

See Thursday's edition of The-Post Journal for complete coverage.

Out of the 60 JPD Officers, two of them broke the law in the same year and both they get released without on their own recognizance? Regardless of their mental state, addictions, or whatever their cases may be, they swore an oath to obey and enforce the law, and they broke it. Yet, they are both basically getting away with it? At minimum, they should have had a bail amount set, not just being released on their own recognizance. THEY ARE COPS THAT SOWRE AN OATH TO OBEY AND ENFORCE THE LAW!!!!! These officers need to be held more accountable than civilians. This is totally unacceptable. I wonder how many other Jamestown Police officers break the law and get away with it on a regular basis. Definitely a corrupt department that needs Federal review.
