I can remember as a young girl riding my bike around the neighborhood looking for girls my age to play with. I would spend hours playing with the neighborhood kids and would come home before dark to eat supper it was mostly beans and rice or biscuits and gravy. I now have a daughter who is like I was wanting to go ride her bike down the street and play with the neighborhood girls her age. The problem is, is that the mother of the little girl my daughter was playing with decided to call the police on my 7 year old because she went to their house just to play with her daughter around the same age. I'm pretty sure from what the policeman told me is that she made it sound like my daughter was "lost in the neighborhood" and that she needed help to go home. Unbelievable, we only live maybe 100 ft. from the neighbor's house. What ever happened where kids can go ride their bikes if the roads aren't with heavy traffic and children can be allowed to play outside and make friends with the neighborhood kids? No wander Ringgold is what it is.

I agree..Ringgold use to be a great place! I miss the way it use to be, I so wish that people will get out and vote and make some much needed changes, starting with the sheriff! Vote Roy Edwards for cheif of police because he actually cares what happens in our home town!
If Roy could get cheif and then John B gets voted out for sheriff that would be awesome!!!!

I know that there are a lot of bad things that goes on in Ringgold, but where I live is a great neighborhood and we live on a dead end street. I don't see anything wrong with my daughter out riding her bike up the street because of our location and the fact that there isn't much traffic on this street. Besides she only went 100 feet from our house.

My only current good memories about Ringgold involve certain youth and our church... We have some outstanding kids in this area that are keeping their heads up and making it despite the circumstances... They mostly have good parents and are involved with school activities and a church in the area.. Praise be to the people of this area that care and provide time and support for our youth! I would also like to thank the school staff and coaches for going out of your way and investing your time and money to help these kids...

i can remember going outside and walking around my block and having three or four girls that i always played with. we loved it when it was slabtown. we would walk down town and we always made sure sure we had enough money to eat and ride all the rides(yes people we used to have a fair with rides and games) we had sooooo much fun. i sure do miss those days.ringgold used to be a safe town. but we can't blame it all on john balance and mr bradley. our problems started before they came along. they just made it worse.we haven't realy had an all star police force in some time. by the way are we still looking for mr.lawson(thats when our police and town went to hell)!!!!!!! i think people just stopped caring

Ringgold was corrupt when I was there 20 years ago...I will never forget going to the school counselor asking for help because I was being molested at home and her exact words were how dare I say such things about a respected member of the community (Nothing was ever done and I was sent back home for it to continue)....I have heard that the man still is molesting kids in the area....and is still very respected and protected!! I hope the school has a better counselor now. Sorry, I do not miss Ringgold OR have fond memories.

it still boils down to voting just who the crap do you think voted that school board in and why ? the school board is responsible for that mess who do you think hires the teachers ? and principles ? where is the tax money to help the school system ? who will call in for state help with the school system ? like i say it boils down to voting !! what cop is going to get out of there car and take the little dopers out of school and to jail !! one more thing if you truly care you will vote in new people if you do not !!! it will only get worse bet on that

Come on people lets be real about Ring gold. Now Ring gold has its share of problems true enough, but at the same time a lot of good came out of ring gold as well. I cant help but comment on the statements that were made. If you ask me, as bad as ring gold may seem to you all trust me it's still a lot better than some other places I know of. . I was raised in ring gold and now I'm currently residing in Dallas TX. Believe me when I tell you compared to what goes on here in Dallas Ring gold isn't as bad as you think. People we need to learn to be more appreciative. Lets lift up or town by giving back to it. lets work on a solution. How are we every going to attract business or companies to brings jobs to ring gold by tarnishing it's reputation. The problem is people have no hope in ring gold lets bring positive hope to the people. Just because some of us made it we have no right to talk down on others, especially if were not willing to come up with a solution. If you ask all of the people that talked negative what they've done to help I'm willing to bet they haven't done anything so come on people lets be positive. I'm not taking up for anyone that does wrong. I hope all that break the law is caught and punished for their crimes but at the same time I want to see people lives transformed.
