A San Leandro police officer yanked my brother by his dreads and said, "Do you remember Rodney King?" because he looked like someone he was after. What was he insinuating? What can be done about this officer's conduct?

y even treat the visiting families like scum...

I hate that disgusting place, and the corrupt system that initiates our young men by making them HATE those nasty kid stompin' cops who PRETEND to the rest of the public like they're all good.

Well, there not, they are the prime rainmakers for a system that deals in human enslavement, they start hassling the kids young and strip them off all their dignity. We've got a terrible situation on our hands. So this 20 something kid dies in a miserable puddle of his own vomit on a concrete slab in the county jail where +he had access to an intercom and was checked on every 15 min+ yet wasn't in the infirmary... RIGHT! Liars!

It is a shame how our yong people are being treated when they go to jail sometimes for minor things, are they treated like animals the amimals in this country are treated better then our young people. And the funny part we are paying these animals to protect us.

JAIL IS NOT THE F@CKING MARRIOTT PEOPLE...IF IT WAS INMATE FRIENDLY, DONT YOU THINK THEY WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEMS COMMITTING CRIMES KNOWING THAT, "AWWW SHIT, IM JUST GOIN BACK TO RITA...IT AINT THAT BAD"

Rita is at an acceptable standard according to the state and federal regulations. That is a fact, these assumptions i am hearing are not facts, just opinions without any backing whatsoever.

Don't forget how many lives have been saved by the staff at Santa Rita Jail. I witnessed many lives saved from horrible self induced drug problems, such as abscesses that have gone clear to the bone and overdoses, etc. Often times the condition of inmates, upon arrest, is the worst you could imagine. If they had not been arrested, they would be dead!
Many times inmates lives have been saved by a deputy breaking up deadly fights. What about all the good staff, who look out for your young people in jail. They risk their lives everyday protecting them, for this ungratefulness. Gang members, often live longer when locked up, than they would if out on the streets. It's a lot safer in jail for them. Don't tell me that you mothers of gang members don't rest easier knowing they are in jail????

"Happyface"

Please don't be naive to think that all people in prison are quilty of their convicted crime(s). Further, death happens everyday, whether in prison or not! This case is a tradegy (no matter where the person is) because he did not receive the proper/adequate medical care that he had the right to, as does everyone.
