Yep, the picture that I sent was taken from that video. An industrious individual was able to clip individual frames. Unfortunately, our house is in the rather wet end of JB. I can't figure out which one it is in the picture, but we are sure that we have water in the house. We are on one of the canals.

Thank you for the video posting and picture. Hard to tell but I think my parents house is at least still standing. My parents home was right in front of the food store across the street. As for water damage to the 2nd level that is unknown. We might see more pictures and videos soon.

Anyone know when they will let homeowners back to check on their property?

Does anyone know if anything on West Beach Road made it though? That's our friends house we go too during the summer?

Its the second house from the RH curve on the Google map.

This is a very telling photo. If you want to estimate how high the water is at your JB house, you can base it on this photo and using Google Earth. Find out your property elevation by sending Google Earth to your address. Now look at the photo above. Zoom in and you can try to pin point an address in this photo, where the water is level with the land. You can compare that elevation with the elevation of your property (the bay water is obviously level across the entire subdivision). This will tell you approximately how high the water is around your house. I will do the numbers (AS A ROUGH ESTIMATE, someone else should do the same and compare estimates to cross check each other).
From the photo, it looks like the water line is level at the intersection of Frances Drake Rd and Buccaneer Rd. Google Earth says elevation is 3ft there. Now I position to Nassau Way, and the elevation there looks to be 0 ft. That says, at the time of this photo there was about 3ft of water around those houses.
Obviously this is only as accurate as Google Earth's elevation numbers, and it looks like GE doesn't distinguish between say 3 ft elevation and 2ft 10 inches.
I know people who live in the subdivision, so it's not just an academic exercise. Bless you all.(someone can check my math...)

Some video stating its from east of Jamaica Beach on the khou website (sorry don't know how to post as link so you'll have to cut and paste)

this one is of the west end:

We used to own a house in Jamaica Beach on Curlew, but we sold it when we moved away from Cypress. Unfortunately I've been away too long to recognize the communities from the aerial shots.

My home is at 4304 Flamingo Way which is at the corner of Curlew and Flamingo Way. I've written about what I know earlier, but as I assess the photo, I believe we have approximately 3 feet of water in the picture.

Ok we were on the other side off Bob Smith - the 3rd house in on the right - although technically it was the second house as the first house was nothing but stilts left from Alicia.

Topix forums is trying to guess your location. It is the location of the of your Internet service provider.

I have been continuing to search the net. If I find anything that is solid proof I will post here.

Found this little snippet on a news article posted on another site:

"In Jamaica Beach, just west of Galveston, six houses were destroyed and most of the others damaged, said a police official, Steve Hubbell. He warned residents that snakes were slithering through debris and that nails in the roadway were flattening many tires. As rain started again on Sunday, many people in Galveston reached their limit and headed to the shelter at Ball High School."

Don't believe they are "blacking out" anything - no reason to. The Coast Guard UTube video was grainy but showed a lot of promise for Jbeach!

Thank you all for the updates on JB. I have friends who live there and do not have computer access. My friends live on Jolly Roger and have an empty lot next to them. Any word on the damage on that side?
