When did the last INTERNATIONAL flight depart:
The Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport?

Was the "First Flight"...Tokyo, Hong Kong, or Sydney?
NO...it was a two engine, turbo-prop flight to Portland!

(what a hoot)

Medford totally blows. It is boring and dull and incredibly hot during the summertime and it is much worse during the 9 months of winter.

Oregon is now at the very top in terms of unemployment and rates of foreclosure but this is always what happens in Oregon. It never does all that well during boom times and it does much worse during downturns.

The market votes with its dollars and Oregon is deemed unworthy.

I have to agree with you on that one. Oregon is unfriendly to business due the tax rates, too bad that STUPID jackass Kulongowski doesn't see that. Now we have that stinking liberal communist Obama bin Laden in charge, who I didn't vote for, the whole nation will follow suit.

PS I find Medford much more tolerable than the liberal Northwestern part of the state, if you man up you can take the heat.

Sorry gass, but that's like saying diarrhea is more tolerable than a splitting headache.
Medford is all about mindless symbolism, like a new airport that they didn't need. Their local politicans are just as crooked as politicans everywhere.

Anyone who has been in the old terminal building knows it needed to be replaced. Medford is growing and the airport needs to grow with the town. I am not happy about all the negative comments form Beverton and Eugene, these floks don't live here. The airport needed to expand it's facilities to attract new buisness and trade. Now larger airplanes have access to this area due to the longer runway and with that maybe other airlines will come to this local area which might bring lower fares for travelers. Who in their right minds wants to fly into San fran. with the delays and constant bad weather. Medford would be a better place to transfer to other cities. than Oh don't forget the new tower that comes with the terminal, new and better communication and air traffic control will bring safer air travel. Thoes floks outside Medford, Be happy for us and even you might find this new facility usable by even you.

I've been there many times, and NO, it did not need to be replaced.
Larger planes may have access, but they aren't coming to Medford.(You'll never see an A380 land in Medford) Heck, MFR is the only "international" airport in the world, not serviced by the commercial 747 series!
Medford was serviced by 727-200's back in the late 60's. They carried 189 passengers. Today, the largest commercial passenger plane servicing Medford is the MD-83, which only carries 150. If more capacity is needed, why then are SMALLER planes servicing Medford now, than 40 years ago?
Medford often has delayed or cancelled flights, both arriving/departing, in the winter due to low visibility, so don't complain about SFO.
The bottom line is that the old airport was adequate. The expense of the new one is plain, old fashion PORK!
