Too bad the courts didn't take this child abuse seriously just 10 years ago. My daughter will never have a child because of rape at a young age here in Grants Pass, and the rapist, Nicholas Leon Kurges, walked free after not passing his polygraph. He ratted and schmoozed his way free to do it again. Ratted out several drug dealers he knew of to get free, including Ivy and Dave Thompson from Jackson Co. He worked for the county at the time while collecting SSI. No one cared about that either. He came home and choked her up against the wall and raped her when she was 12. Only the doctors were of help. The cops "lost" his case and I bothered them for two years to no avail. Needless to say, she does not believe in the justice system or trust cops, and neither do I. Jo co child abuse system is mostly a joke.

I am in SF Bay Area been contemplating relocating to the Grants Pass area, but your post concerns me, your daughter's is a horrific tragedy, WTH is up with Josephine County Court, copy & justice system, have friends up that way that relay incredulous stories I thought were embellished but I know your story is true, WHAT is the deal with them up there, scares me, I'm a single woman, if I can't rely on the police for protection I'd rather stay here with the gang warfare. God Bless you & your daughter.

GRANTS PASS — A 59-year-old Grants Pass man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for child sex abuse.
KTVL reports Norman Bruce Spencer was arrested in September 2010 and Josephine County sheriff’s investigators discovered he had multiple aliases and felony convictions for child molestation over three decades in California, Idaho and Florida.
Investigators also found he failed to register as a sexual offender and illegally possessed a handgun and shotgun.

What can one expect from a Republican run county?
The voter won't raise taxes, fine, but they will pay through the nose for increasing insurance rates.Republicans that so love free enterprise need to STFU & pay increased insurance premiums because there is nothing they can do about it.If they don't like Capitalism let them move to a Socialist/Communist country.I'm free to help them move at anytime. Having sex at 12 doesn't cause someone to not have kids. Please give more details as to why she is now prohibited from having babies.

We recently moved here from Northern California. With all the budget cuts many towns such as Grants Pass deploy the "catch and release" system of criminal justice. Same as the town we left in Nor Cal. What Grants Pass has is a spiritualness about it. According to wikipedia the two biggest religious groups are the Catholics and Mormons. Combined, they make up 34%. This is what makes me feel better about the future of Grants Pass. It may be lawless but there are a lot of good kind people here that you won't find in the city. If you go to http://sexoffenders.oregon.gov/ you'll see that GP is a safe community.

David is not a good representation of the good and kind people here in Grants Pass but that's ok. Most are not like him.

Oh Johnny you are so wrong. We really do not like the Californians coming here and ruining our paradise. The crime, bad habits, rudeness, etc. is not welcome or wanted here.
