Thank God they caught this worthless piece of man. I hope he never gets out. He has destroyed so many hard working families. He does not care about anyone but himself. I hope the families can get back the money or boats that were owed to them. Hopefully the families that he screwed over have not allready lost there homes because of Pat Padgett.

Good work Florida Department of Law Enforcement & Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission !! Nail this guy to the wall !!! God Bless You

Just noticed one of his boats is for sale on Craigslist. What exactly was this guy doing? How could it cause someone to loose their home? It sounds like he was ripping people off on boat deals?

Mark, I hope all the people he took for a ride gets their money back.
Chances are probably not good for that to happen.
At least he's off the street for up to eight years. Thanks for the follow-up.

Wow! Is this really true? If it is, I someone else who just got taken (wasn't me). I had my reservations about him, but I figured people can change and maybe he deserved a second chance.

Was he sentenced to 8 years on the 2007 charges or someting more current?

What else do you know about him personally? He said he played pro football and held the record for the largest bass. Is that a lie too? Just wondering about his background.....

Thanks!

It is very sad to hear that he wasn't trying to get it together because he was a very likeable guy. I guess being likeable is how he worked people into trustiong him. Sad....very sad.

This guy is a real scumbag. Yes he is seems very likeable, trustworth etc.. he sucks you in and screws you. I was supposed to testify at the trial but the coward plead guilty instead of facing his victims. I was one of the more fortunate ones that my losses were minimal but it cost me a lot to get the boat back in the water. The work was supposed to be completed in 6 weeks, after nearly 8 months I finally picked up the boat which was in junk condition.
I heard every excuse in the book. Had to travel to Jacksonville 3 times before I had enough. Should have been smart and picked up the boat the first time. According the Prosecutor, he had pledged by boat for collateral on a loan. I was told I was lucky to get it back.

We were in business dealings with him, of course he didn't tell us he was heading to jail! He had some parts molds part that go with the boat molds we purchased. The liner, hatches, etc molds are supposedly in Georgia and Padgett was selling them to us.
Now I know why we've been waiting for almost 2 months and not able to reach him. I really need to know how to contact someone regarding these molds. Anyone out there know who to contact to find them?

Good news, I lost a lot of money to this guy.
Long story short, 26 ft sail boat, lost $10,000. I was returning the boat back to the owner, and lost my left thumb in the process. That was my fault. Just added insult to injury I guess.
He told me that he was going to get the money he owned me from his mother, and she was killed in accident with a dump truck, he blamed me for his mothers death, this is the kind of person he is.
I learned a lot from this, and lost a lot of money I will never see.
8 years and $50,000.00. was not enough!
Wonder if I can get some of that 50,000?

I too was a victim of this con artist. I did harass so much and showed up with the police a couple of times that he gave me back my money but I did loose the value of my boat that he was working on. That big yellow boat mentioned above belonged to some one he ripped off from south Florida - I believe. I had an extensive file on him and found a whole lot of people he ripped off. I hope he get's (it) real good and often while in prison. DO NOT TRUST HIM!
