2 Hit By Gunfire Outside Arlington Nightclub

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Two men were shot early Saturday morning in gunfire outside an Arlington nightclub that included shots fired by uniformed officers who came under attack, according to police.

The shooting happened outside Plush nightclub in the 800 block of University Boulevard North in Arlington.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Chief Rick Graham said two off-duty officers working security at the club came outside to investigate gunfire in the parking lot. Graham said a car drove aggressively at the officers and one of the officers fired at the vehicle. Graham said the car continued past the officers, crashing into the corner of the nightclub.

Graham said when a man with a gun got out of the car, the second officer opened fire.

Graham said both men who were in the car were hit by gunfire. They were taken to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Police were still investigating whether they were shot by police or hit by the earlier gunfire.

"We don't know right now where the injuries came from," Graham said. "There's a possibility they came from our officers. There's also a possibility they came from unknown citizens that were involved in the original shooting incident."

The names of the two men injured were not immediately released. Police said the names of those men and the officers involved will be released later Saturday.

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says an off-duty officer was forced to shoot two suspects outside of the Plush night club early Saturday morning.

Investigators say two off-duty, uninformed officers who were working for the club located on University Boulevard and Arlington Expressway heard gunshots in the parking lot outside the club around 2 a.m.

According to police, three men, Caleif Bush, 18, Cariel Britt, 21, and Corey Gibson, 19, were fleeing the scene when an officer tried to stop him. Police say Bush accelerated the car in the officer's direction.

According to the police report, the officer pulled out his gun and shot Bush in the forearm, which caused him to crash into a wall and a parked motorcycle.

The passenger, Cariel Britt, got out of the car and pointed a gun in the officer's direction. The officer fired once, hitting Britt.

Both were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injures.

A third suspect, Corey Gibson, was found in the back seat of the car and arrested after officers found a glock hidden in the floorboard of the car.

Corey Gibson was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.

According to a police spokesperson the officers involved are on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in any police involved shooting.

Police are still investigating who was involved in the first shooting.

All three suspects have a lengthy record.

Not every night just certain nights. They should call those nights 'Culling Night' and keep up the good work! A cops dream it is. All the thugs with carrying guns and drugs in one centralized location.

I don't get what they are trying to find out from Crimestoppers. They have all 3 guys, don't they?
