Well I am assuming he dropped the cannon ball which caused it to explode... which is rather ironic considering his job was to carrying objects.

Meanwhile in Bellorussia, a Soviet carpenter has killed himself by consuming a glowing metal ball he found inside a discarded missle he unearthed at a construction site. The carpenter Yuri Statistavatch noticed a pointy metallic cone shaped object sticking up through the soil at the site, and curious, he unscrewed the conefrom the long metal cylinder. Inside was a set of wires and a golfball sized round metal object that glowed green. "What is that Yuri"??? Is it something we can eat" asked his friend Boris Yemstolh ....with that the doomed carpenter popped the object into his mouth and swallowed. doctors at the local infirmary believed the object to be high weapons grade uranium. Yuri died that evening.

cannon balls don't explode just bounce around a lot and create splits that kill

I agree in what you said sir... but a cannon( shot) a solid ball,is referred to as pounders according to the weight of the ball it fired sir..what you describe is known as a howitzer sir.. the reporter of the story has the terminology wrong..and I take it the dental is cured sir.
